Heroes 4 multiplayer over hamachi

Unread postby Rallyket » 28 Jun 2010, 12:57

Hello
Me and a friend of mine is playing h4 over hamachi(direct tcp\ip) but it seems like sending and recieving info takes a while, several minutes after ending turn and the computers are done but it still takes a while.
We both have ADSL 12000\700kbit so that shouldnt be a problem.

Anyone here have a idea of what the problem is and why its so slow ?

I honesty have no clue, however gameranger does support heroes 4 as well so you might want to give it a try because gameranger is a lot better then hamachi in my opinion

Why not just play via real TCP/IP?

Tried both gameranger and battlelan and neither worked :(
With gameranger we got up the message failed to connect\join game.

I have even tried opening some ports without any luck :(

Tried creating a game on GameRanger now and a guy joined but couldnt connect but i could join him and connect and we could play without problems or delay. I have opened ports on my router but it seems they are not opened after all ?

Must be something else i can do to get it to work.

Yes, you do need to open ports if you want to play online. If you want to play over LAN, then you don't have to. But remember that by default every firewall will block the game! So run it in windowed mode and allow all connections when prompted.
The ports to open for H3 are:
2300-2400, 28800-29100, 47624. I'm not sure, but you might also need to open 1900, 1300-1400 and 49700-49800, 4692 and 59800-59900.

The ports to open for H4 are:
4377, 6073, 2302-2400, 1181-1182, 1291, 3805, 6515 and I'm not sure about 1024-1026, 24009 and 23753.

They seam to be open correctly. Did you make sure that your firewall doesn't block the program? And do other players see your server when you host the game?

I have disabled my firewall atm, but i have configured the firewall to allow GameRanger and Heroes 4.

But is seems like theres something wrong with the router :(
Cus when i check the sites for open ports , the only port thats open is 1337.
And yes i have opened that as well.

That has been the problem the whole time that they cant find my game, but through hamachi they are able to find it but not with gameranger and regular direct tcp\ip.
