I vote for H2:PoL, and it's not nostalgia, that's the first time I've heard it :)
Anyway, this one's a tough poll. A lot of excellent choices. The second for me would be HOMM4, because the song itself is magical and really strikes you... But it's not too fit for Academy, would be better for Haven (that music was pretty terrible compared to other H4 towns IMO). HoMM3 is the third, also magical and calm, but H2 sounds a lot more fitting for a town like Celeste - magical and divine at the same time.

HoMM II is irritating for some reason.

HoMM II PoL is much better, quite a lovely theme.

H3 is quite nice.

H4 is the best, soothing and melodic.

H5 is solid, but I think this tune would fit better with another faction, Dungeon perhaps? Well, parts of it, at least.

Heroes 2 - Meh

Heroes 2:PoL - I picked this one; it has a sweeping, majestic, yet calming presence that I just find very powerful

Heroes 3 - It's whimsical and fits well with the theme of golems and gremlins. But not my favorite.

Heroes 4 - Another great theme. Very tragic-sounding. Fits the theme of the campaign well.

Heroes 5 - Love the theme after the initial intro; but when you play the game, you rarely get to hear the whole thing

Wow, it sounds tragic to you? To me it's definitely very positive and uplifting. Why do you think a tragic theme fits the campaign. Emilia's campaign to me is about new beginnings, successful ones at that, it only ended tragically for Magnus, but that sort of thing tends to happen when you're trying to control a kingdom's worth of minds. ;)

Anyhow, you don't really have to answer that, I was just curious.

It's mixed... First it's uplifting, then lyric, then again uplifting. Kinda fits the theme, the Reckoning was tragic, a new beginning is uplifting...

Heroes II and IV stand out. IV suits the game perfectly, campaign and all (it belongs in Great Arcan). I voted HII, though. It's not really a mage theme, but definitely represents the series as a whole. In fact it was remixed with the Warlock Theme for use in a MM8 trailer.

Heroes 2:PoL got my vote with Heroes 4 close second.

The Necro town theme is in that MM8 trailer.

Also the Wizard theme is used in the Heroes 2 official trailer too ^_^

Oops, my mistake. I had a pang of uncertainty but with only the Gold version it was difficult to be sure.

It would've been awesome if some of the H2 music had been sprinkled around in MM6, and likewise for H3/MM7, but I guess that would've incited accusations that the composers weren't doing their jobs properly...

I like the 4 one, it just seems so full of emotion. Now, whether that's a good thing for the wizard town... I don't know, nor do I care, it's the best music.

H4, followed very closely by H3.
