I got shockwave treatment on my shoulder today. 3.000 hits. Every time I go to get that treatment I forget how immensely painful it is.

So what's it good for? To distract from some other pain?

It turns the chronic injury (inflammation) into an acute one, forcing the body to speed up the healing process. I had the full 15-minute explanation of it all given to me once, but that's basically it in a nutshell.

Anyway, it's like being hit rapidly in the same spot with a hammer and chisel, right on the inflamed area - so imagine already hurting somewhere and having a bloke hit you 3.000 times with that. Boy, it smarts.

Still, upon completion, the treatment has a convalescence period of some 2-3 weeks, rather than the 3-5 months surgery would have. I can deal with the pain if it fixes the problem. :tsup:

Ah, so since the body treats a medium pain with medium attention, if it's turned into a great big spike of hurt, it gets lots more attention.

Advanced medicine-wise, this sounds on par with leeches. Still, as long as it works.

Don't knock leeches. ;)

Yeh, it does work; it fixed my Jumper's knee (both) and other stuff. Thinking about getting it on my heels as well (damn legs, hurting all the time...) - but the downside is that it's quite expensive. 500 crowns a pop. 8|

A lot. Actually, me thinks the title should be "Berserk for sex" or something of that sort.

@Kalah
I suppose the first hits might be a lot of pain. But the number you said, 3 K, I imagine the body starts getting used to that sort of pain making it bearable - or you could become insane.

However, it does sound that it's that kind of treatment that has a very painful day next.

Yes, there's no doubt a lot of natural pain relief being released when it goes on; when I got it on my knee, I hardly felt it after a while. But it does hurt like a bugger throughout.

Speaking of all this pain and how much the body can take, it reminds me of a time, some 10 years ago, when I went through a series of various types of treatment to a hereditary disease called Acne vulgaris. This included having my skin first warmed by (for a period of 15 minutes) spot lights and warm water, then a staff member of the clinic came in started to manually treating the pimples with the help of some kind of small nippers. I didn't really take a look at what's going on, I just wanted to get out of there and the whole thing being over as soon as possible, and so I just shut my eyes. I remember counting more than 630 times going "ouch". That was some pinching....

Really absurd today. There has been a attack on the royal family in Holland.On the national hollidayday, some freaking moron decided totry and ram his car through their bus. View it here. Really,what an asshole ruining a day like this for every man/woman in Holland. There ar 14 wounded,7 heavily, and 5 casualties. He appears to have lost his job, and *rumor* his place to live. Those were his motives I guess. A sad day for Holland...

The other computer is working good. Short spec. follows:
GA-P31-ES3G, 2GB DDR2, Pentium 5200, WD1600AAJS, XPH, PSU Nexus Value 430, Arctic Cooling 7, SilentX 12cm cooler, Sapp. HD4350 ;)
In other words another HTPC, energy acceptable PC - and normal sized case.

Claws Mail sounds good, Digsby perhaps qualify later, rest is the same. Gigabyte EES is simple and I like it. It's not too setting extensive, having only six options :P

Three free days! Yuhhaaaa!!! :-D
(This is my third - cheap backup pc. From this time it will be only notebooks.)

Pam, pam, papam.

If you get a holiday I'll come down and visit you. :)

I just heard from a school that needs a sub for a little while. That's excellent; I had sorta lost hope that I'd get any calls before the fall.

It's about taking a chance on love etc. Lyrics translated:
Open up your window
throw up your door
let the light in and my darling
let everything be as before
let him know
yet there's a way back
let him know
he's the only one you want
sure, you can choose to break now,
but he will always be there in your heart, you know it
so why not let him be there
you can never forget the one your heart holds dear anyway

Open up your window
throw up your door
let the light in and my darling
let everything be as before
let him know
yet there's a way back
let him know
he's the only one you want

Shout down the neighbourhood
loudly so he hears
shout that that love
is nothing you destroy
shout that that love
can never run out
shout him in again and if he doesn't hear
then run out
sure, you can choose to break now,
but he will always be there in your heart, you know it
so why not let him be there
you can never forget the one your heart holds dear anyway

Shout down the neighbourhood
loudly so he hears
shout that that love
is nothing you destroy
shout that that love
can never run out
shout him in again and if he doesn't hear
then run out

If he can't be found
search as if obsessed
say to his friends that I'll tell you what
the window is open and the door is ajar
no matter what happens he's the best thing that ever happened
sure, you can choose to break now,
but he will always be there in your heart, you know it
so why not let him be there
you can never forget the one your heart holds dear anyway

If he can't be found
search as if obsessed
say to his friends that I'll tell you what
the window is open and the door is ajar
no matter what happens he's the best thing that ever happened

Open up your window
throw up your door
let the light in
let everything be as before
let everything be as before
shout down the neighbourhood
loudly so he hears
shout that that love
is nothing you destroy
no, it's not to be destroyed

Open up your window
throw up your door
let the light in and my darling
let everything be as before
let everything be as before
let everything be as before
let everything be as before
