Quoting myself:

and lightning,

This is a mystical prophecy from the 1550's describing the fall of Paris in the Battle of France, 1940. Let us examine the lines one by one.

"The royal bird over the city of the sun"

Nazi German airforce, the Luftwaffe, used the eagle as an emblem, and had this symbol painted on their fighters and bombers (as in those that flew over Paris). The eagle has been used in various cultures as a representor of power and glory, most notably by the ancient Romans, Russian and Austrian Empires, and the two French Empires of the 19th century. The Third Reich was not "royal" by any means, but used the German eagle as its standard, nevertheless.

City of the sun is a classical metaphor for Paris after various myths, and of the parlance of the late medieval times. And furthermore, the city was the capitol city of the "Sun King", Louis XIV of France.

"By night will prophecy warnings for seven months in advance:"

The Luftwaffe was used as a tool to wage psychological war on the French by Joseph Goebbels, chief of the German propaganda ministry. He had some of the bombers drop propaganda flyers from the skies above Paris. These special made flyers prophesized the fall of Paris and of France to the German invaders. Some of these night flying missions were done as early as November 1939, seven months before the city fell to the Germans in June 1940.

"The wall of the East will fall, thunder and lightning"

The heavy German artillery firing its deadly greetings on the Maginot Line sure sounded a lot like thunder, and seen at night, the bombardement was like a series of lightnings striking from the skies. Some sections of the Maginot Line ("Wall of the East") were overrun by the Germans, and the rest was ordered to surrender after the French government signed armistice with the invaders.

"In seven days the enemy directly at the gates."

After the defeat of the Allies at Dunkerque, the Germans renewed their offensive at Somme on June 5th 1940, which lead the French leadership to evacuate Paris on June 10th, thus leaving the city to be declared an open city. The german forces took French capitol city on June 14th.

With a clear explanation the "euhm okay" will no longer be needed :D

And bloody h, I hope I won't have to hear anymore of that "When's the fifa 010 (zero-ten) releasing?". Imbicils!
It's like when they ask if we have "that uhh....GTA IV" (as in an I and a V). Idiots, it means four! :disagree:

Anyhow, gonna get a good long night's sleep. The masses....oh the masses :S

I think I shall go screaming into the night now and save myself the trouble later.

Having a test with the young 'uns right now. Almost finished; just one left, and she arrived a bit late so she might finish late as well. Gonna be loads of work grading these over the weekend, and I've got more schtuff to do as well, seeing as we're changing class schedules, causing major havoc to everything next week.

At least I'll be having shellfish with the family tomorrow. :)
