But now for the important question: how is the pay? Fancy private school, sounds promising...?

I'm still a newbie, so the pay isn't huge... but still three times higher than anything I've had so far. They're offering me a 65% position as of today (which lowers the total amount, of course), but they're going to work on that and in all likelihood adjust it upwards before school starts. I'll have plenty of cash to live on. :)

Oh, it's quite straight-forward. "Mjølner", that's the proper pronunciation.

Psst: the letters aren't always pronounced the same in all languages even though they look the same.

That's English, right? Otherwise it seems odd for an "ö" not to be pronounced like it's German and Finnish counterpart.

The Norwegian ø is not pronounced the same way as the ö, neither in Swedish, German nor any other language - just so we're clear. :)

Wiki says otherwise ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close-mid_ ... nded_vowel or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-mid_f ... nded_vowel ) but I suppose there are various allophones of the sound we're speaking of all over Norway. So yeah, it might just be unique :)

Of course not always... but some articles are worthy of a certain degree of trust.

How does one read that easier then the normal word?!

How about some of you just record yourself saying it and post the audio file...
