Kristo wrote:Is the Selectividad like the set of placement exams we take here in the USA? Here you take a series of tests in various subjects and your scores determine which level classes you should start with. Really high scores can even get you automatic credits for certain classes.

Nearly, but not exactly.
Here at Spain, the mark of Bachiller(last two years before university) is divided in three parts: First of Bachiller(30% of the final mark), Second of bachiller(another 30% of the final mark) and Selectividad(aka PAU-Pruebas de Acceso a la Universidad=University Accessing Tests; the remaining 40% of the final mark).
So for enter the university you need to do selectividad, and depends of the subject of university(and the university as well) you'll reach the minimun or not(and if there aren't enough places, the highers ones).
And yes, in selectividad you must 6 subjects(out of the 8 that you learn in Second).

Ok I don't think we have anything equivalent to that here. The placement exams are for people who have already been accepted to the university. There are the SAT and ACT tests that you take in high school that universities use as a first-cut at whether they'll accept you, but it's not like there's a threshold score that will get you in.

Watching the Eurovision Song Contest. My faves: Malta, Moldova and Ireland (who were, ridiculously, eliminated before the final). The Norwegian is also a big favourite, albeit not one of my personal faves.

Watching too... My personal favourites are Iceland and Turkey. Malta and Israel are great songs as well... and to end my top five, I would say... Norway :-D

Can someone here translate this song for me?

Vi Sitter här i venten o spelar lite DotA
o pushar på o smeker med moståndet vi leker.
Vi Sitter här i venten o spelar lite DotA
o springer runt o creepar o motståndet vi sleepar.

Yea, my roommate plays this song when we play DotA. Not sure if it's for morale purposes, but I wanna know the lyrics. Surely Milla understands it. :D
