Well technically of course you're not going to prevent people from "Escaping reality" by just saying nicely "you don't need this" (addiction) but what's wrong with telling them that it is an addiction and that they would probably not be doing something reasonable, or some consequences of it (mainly drugs)? Like in the Matrix when Neo had to take either the Red Pill or the Blue Pill you know? (very close analogy to "escaping reality")

But banning alcohol, for example, is still a way to prevent accidents (mainly with vehicles) which is a lot worse than "personal addiction" (like some drugs) -- not so personal anymore. It's obvious those who get drunk on the wheel don't even give a damn for their lives, so any kind of punishment is futile. The solution is to prevent it from happening. (not the accident, but the "drunk driving" part, which has two ingredients: a car, and alcohol :P).
All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.

You felt empty and you thought prostitution was going to help? :| I seriously question your "mentor's" values. You're walking a very dangerous road here. How do you think Miss Right and Naughty will feel when she finds out you only want her for her naughty side?

You are right about one thing. Your manhood was indeed at stake. And you failed the test. You talk as though you've joined some sort of elite club. You haven't. All you've done is devalue yourself. You and your future Miss Right are worth far more than that.

Risk in what way. We all take risks. If we don't take risk, we're bound to our inner prison.
True, but obviously there was a risk of a crappy first time and a bad memory. If you are happy about how things happened, then it's a great thing. It's not always a perfect experience, even with the so called "love-of-your-life".

Great historical example!

Don't be so judgmental. The only thing that matters, whether he is satisfied about it or not, and whether he can use these experiences to build on for future relationships. I don't see anything shameful in prostitution. It's obviously not the perfect way to lose virginity, but it has a lot of advantages. Manhood does not (only) depend on your sexual conquests, and losing it does not grant you entrance to an elite club, but it's neither something that has a general moral value. It's not the 15'th century anymore.
Oh, and I don't think a woman without a 'naughty' side is worth anything. In fact, I feel guilty for using the word 'naughty'...

No. I said I realize that I had been after I did it. All this while I though I was happy sitting here in front of my laptop playing games and spending so much time in the forum making 'friends' I barely knew. What a happier lifestyle I have, when I should be going out meeting real people.

Apparently you talk about your 'manhood' as if I should be the holy guy. I'm not a priest. My manhood is about doing something you know you want, after taking serious consideration and weighing the pros and cons. Yes, I have devalue myself, but you should know goddamn well that not everything is about holiness and keeping your 'values'. I had a choice of staying at home watching porn and suppress my sexual needs, pretending that I'm happy with my computer games and online buddies, or risk it and get laid. Both are devaluing choices. I've always failed in tests, but it never stop me from improving myself.

When I mean Ms. 'Right and Naughty', I mean the one who you want to spend the rest of your life with her, and make love with her as many times as possible, the ones that chooses me and my family than her career.

Next time read again and really understand the situation before you go 'preaching' about stuff, or else you should stick your head in the sand somewhere else. I'm not the guy who takes crap from anyone.

Also, there's so many thoughts and worries etc before the first time, and the expectations skyrocket when one meets a girl/guy, and it might be better to know what it's all about. Also, I think prostitution is a fairly decent way to lose your virginity, especially if it's been such a big issue for you.
Still, I think you should lose your mentor! He/she sounds like a complete idiot...

Well, if you're taking it that way it's thousand time better to playing games with girl(s) than with your notebook. It's healthier.

However playing the games with girl of your own is much cheaper.

As for your manhood, well, you tested - and that's it.

So life is either computer, porn, or sex? Wow how narrowminded...

@Pol: depends what you mean by healthier and the type of game. Some games train your brain or challenge your responses, even dumb FPS games can enhance your hand-eye coordination. "Experts" or "Pros" aren't that 'good' at a game without doing anything... It's like a brain exercise.

I think I understand your situation pretty well. You went to a hooker, then bragged about it on the Internet. Done. If you really intend to be the guy who doesn't take crap from anybody, you can start by not taking this kind of crap from yourself. Both you and your future wife deserve better.

We all know that you are an asexual (or tying to be one), but most of us here treasure sex as one of the greatest pleasures, that make life worth living (and we also love games for being a 'decent' subtitute :D).

You can either say, that life has a fixed objective purpose, and in that case you have support those claims with decent arguments and evidence, or you can say it's a subjective thing, and everybody has to decide for himself, but in this later case you cannot subjectively judge other people's subjective goals.

Technically, he did not brag about it. What he did took some courage, exactly because there are many people like you, who judge and look down on those who visit prostitutes.
How exactly does this devalue his future wife? I don't see a logic there.

I think I'm generally agreeing with Veldrynus here. I don't see how being experienced at sex is a negative thing for a future partner. In fact it is more likely to be a positive. I'm guessing there must be a religious commandment involved in this somehow.

Your first statement earlier did go against my logic here, so I already assume you did not fully comprehend the situation. I did not go to her for to fill my 'emptiness'. I seek to fill my 'emptiness' after I go to her. I don't recall bragging about my sex in here. All I said is I'm no longer a virgin, posting that happy random thought like after you did it with your partner/whoever. If no one cares, this wouldn't continue. But there are curious people here, so posting too much details here would risk compromising the reputation of this forum, I decided to summarize it, leaving the rest for their imagination.

Help, help, i'm being oppressed...

Everyone will snicker behind her back that she couldn't get someone who was man enough to get some tail without paying for it?!

Always being compared to a professional in the bedroom?!

The gnawing insecurity about what the fact that there's grocery money on the bed stand every morning means...

Today, for the first time in (oh, how long has it been now...?) about 5 years, I took a football out of the cupboard, put on some tight shoes and went to the football pitch. There weren't anyone else there, so I just happed around for half an hour. Now I'm all warm and sweaty, but (also for the first time in years) I don't feel like a cup of tea. :? It's lovely, warm and spring-like outside. :-D

Wow Kalah I thought you played regularly. My team had an injury in the first 5 mins so the rest of us had to play 90. We lost fairly badly and I was off form. Fortunately we have a rematch Saturday. Now if I could just find a goalie since my usual one can't make it.

On another note I started a heroes 5 match with Wolfsburg, my first game via CH and not HC. Should be an exciting conclusion next time.

No, I stopped playing regularly back in 2001, and since then I have been refereeing only. This season I will be doing neither, because of a chronic injury  But today I just felt like a small outing. I think I'll do the same thing tomorrow, after my doctor's appointment. :)

(I'm quite a decent goalie, actually... )
