You act as if people must get married...must have children...must claim great responsibilities and be crushed by them or something.

What are you trying to do that you can't accomplish if you do those things?

I think I'd do better with some specific examples than these generalities.

Sorry I only do C++ and even that, I don't know the Windows API except a few functions (like file access/read/write/etc) cause I don't need them :D

I don't know anything about ASP.Net that google or wikipedia won't teach you. I can, however, point you at www.stackoverflow.com if you have a specific question you need to ask.

Obviously he might miss get the chance to be a lonely and miserable old sod... and he just can't settle for just being a miserable old sod instead...

There is some truth in it. ;)

One thing that's worse than being a miserable old sod, is being a miserable old sod, that constantly has to act like a happy old sod. I find that much more degrading. You can be lonely even if you are married, but you cannot openly say that, without sounding "offensive" and causing various "family problems". It's better to be honestly yourself, even if that means admitting without shame, that you are not happy. That's the type of integrity I respect.

Probably although if we go by your statistics surely over 90% of the people are that way... why constantly project it on others who seem at ease on their happiness?

I learned it long ago that everyone is emo too, from emo "friends". Not saying I'm the happy type (I'm the pessimist type mind you), I'm not projecting my thoughts on "the world".

I bought a new wireless keyboard/mouse, and an electric toothbrush. One of the local electronics stores is going bust, so everything must go. I'll return tomorrow and see if I can get some more good deals.
