Too bad the models all stare the viewer with blank eyes...
If the eyes are really a mirror reflecting the image of the soul, then I guess these beauties don't have too deep Inner Light.

That's pretty harsh judgment in labeling girls with good looks don't have "deep Inner Light". Many of the girls in this thread worked hard to get where they are, be it a celebrity, a role model or an AV star. It's never easy for all of them.

And what does "deep Inner Light" defines? They may not graduated from a prestigious university or hold a PhD, but they have long set their eyes on their vision, and work hard to excel in their career. That is "deep Inner Light" for me. Even porn stars need guts to do what they have to do. ;)

Yeah, we all know, that beautiful women are stupid, shallow, and utterly without a soul...

(Let us keep this stereotype alive, for the sake of ugly chicks and the poor guys, who occasionally get lucky with them)

That's sometimes true however, or should I say *most* times. No it doesn't have anything with the fact that they're beautiful as much as with the fact that they're celebrities and selling their "soul" to entertainment industry. Not all of them though, I give you that, and I even know plenty of examples, but let's just keep it at that.

I mean, if they're so "bright" "deep within" makes you wonder why they are sometimes so arrogant, or ambitious about fame or money... (notable exception in my mind right now, posted her in this thread anyway :P)

EDIT: Also, not all the ones you don't hear about are not "beautiful" just because they don't want fame or get into the entertainment business. After all, no one knows that some random dude gets shot, but everyone knows when Obama gets shot. Doesn't mean the dude doesn't exist.

What I consider especially arrogant, is to label people you've only seen in pictures, "shallow within", "not too bright" or some way "spiritually inferior". It's somewhat amusing, and in the same time pathetic, that people who automatically accuse attractive women (or men) of such shortcomings, obviously think of themselves as having some significant amount of positive "inner values", that put them above these "good looking, but empty" individuals, as human beings.

What's wrong about being ambitious about fame and money? Why would poverty be a virtue? Or ugliness?

I was talking about being a celebrity, not "beautiful". Though most times the former implies the latter, it doesn't mean the latter implies the former. (BUT even with the former's case, you don't always have to be beautiful to be a celebrity either, you can just as well be very well known actor or with certain "strange" things that make you fit a role).

However, like I said, not all of them are that way. And no, I don't label them just based on looks (mind you, I didn't label anyone :P), I label them based on what I know about them: personality, traits (I mean, characteristics traits obviously), and how they react when faced with that, or how they pose, etc... not on "looks". This obviously, comes from the internet.

And of course, we can argue all day what's a "virtue" but I don't consider WANTING fame a virtue, or money, or greed, as it most often leads to being arrogant and considering yourself superior of sorts. (not even talking only about women, you know about the Christian-Bale-incident right?). Not just that but there's a limit to how much you can "sell" yourself when you cross the line of virtue, in my opinion. Again it has NOTHING to do with being beautiful.

Think about this: we don't know (most) of these girls because they're beautiful. We know them because they are celebrities.

Celebrities can act arrogantly, just because they don't feel the urge anymore to impress others, since they've already done that. They can act like jerks, because they know, that they will get away with it: most people will still admire and love them.
On the other hand, celebrities are constantly under "surveillance". Therefore, their negative deeds are more likely to be known by a larger public. I seriously doubt, that they act worse than any everyday normal guy does.

About virtue.

If you think that wanting money and fame is a bad thing, and to be looked down upon, you will consider yourself superior, just for being poor. Do you see the inherent hypocrisy in this?

Hmm, that's a contradiction: considering yourself superior is not a virtue, yet you say that those who have virtue consider themselves superior to those who don't. Doesn't make much sense, if you don't like the word virtue, then use pride (the bad one) against modesty. :P

@Veldrynus

There's no need to deliberately misinterpret my words. All I wanted to say was that I thought that the models were not enjoying themselves in those photos which made me feel that they were just in for the money and nothing else. Doing anything at all which involves elements of involuntaryness equals selling your soul. I firmly believe that on the contrast, when people are enjoying themselves, you can see their eyes "smiling" instead of that empty, blank stare. Being beautiful and selling your soul is not more common than being ugly (or just "regular" looking) and selling your soul. This is not about being beautiful, it's about ethics and being happy with yourself and with life in general.

Feel free to add your sarcastic comment, I won't try to stop you. If it makes your day, go ahead and enjoy yourself. Just remember to do it with your heart on it and with your eyes smiling. Just don't sell out.

To a certain point I agree with this. However, using this definition, we could conclude that 95% of all people who are having a job, are also selling their souls. Just think of all those meaningless, boring, stressful, low paying, almost degrading, slave-jobs. I doubt that people are doing those things for fun. This is why models, pornstars, prostitutes, or anybody in the 'erotic industry' does not represent a special case of soul-selling.

The difference is whether it's about YOU or not. Cause you know, 90% of all those "hard-working" bunch who, let's say, hate their jobs, aren't exactly going to be in the headlight -- or the company's headlight (who owns the factory, in this example). It's not that you ARE in the headlight, it's whether that's actually the "job" or not.

"Selling your body" may be more appropriate as well.

I don't think hating to mindlessly put in numbers in a machine or whatever is the same as hating what is being done to you...

Also, blue eyes + reddish hair = spiffy...

That one, I think Amy's her name, always remind me of a certain episode of Smallville where she was this insecure teenager who drank too much vegetable smoothie made by vegetables grown in a radioactively contaminated field. And she started eating people cause she was so hungry all the time due to the vegetable smoothies being bad for her.
I'll never forget that I'm afraid.... :hoo:
