To clear things up, I've just looked into Caladont 2.0, where Corribus explained the rule more detailed (on 31 July), when I myself complained in the same matter as HP did now:

Corribus wrote:
Guys, the original purpose of the rule is to prevent people from using a whole word to make a whole new word without changing the meaning of the word. That is - to accumulate easy whole-word bonuses.

I.e., it's very easy to take something like
trillion
and make a new word
trillionth or trillions

and then get a whole heap of points because you get the whole word bonus. You could do that with just about every word posted (plurals, etc.). We have always played the game that the "strongly tied" rule ONLY if it involves a whole-word bonus.

Thus you can go from "unclean" to "cleaned" if you want but not "clean" to "cleaned". That's the way we've always played the game here.

Can't help, but again

The purpose of the game is to play and not to stop others from playing. I hate this kind of behavior. The purpose of the game-master is to observe such tries of cheat. If he/she cannot/won't. We have the right to choose another. Why the hack is so important to stop others from accumulate points? It's not about having fun? It's not about escaping from the RL?
Whatever... I just wonder how could a man like you create maps like Sander's Folly, Gold-heart , Traemask, where the main idea is the evil of the humankind when some (many) times you act the same... whatever again...

for the sake of the game..

@Muzska

I wrote that because HP wondered why we were changing the rules all of a sudden. The point of fact is that that has always been the rule; no rules were changed. As I pointed out.

You can change the rule if you want. I don't really care.

Seconding Muszka. Why f.e. did you chose the plural "risers" instead of "riser"? Knowing that -isers, -sers is unpossible and -ers hasn't only one left: "ersatz" (in this round used already "erse(s)", "erst", "erstwhile").

Having posted "riser" had allowed xx possibilities for words starting with -ser/ -er to the next player. And the game could progress easier and with other words, which were not used in previous rounds.

So I chose the plural "ersatzes", to avoid that the next player only could post "tzar" again, but with "-zes", -"es" there are many usable words. That is it, what Caladont needs to stay alive, I think. ;)

@Corribus (and others)
Oh, than I misunderstood you. Sorry.
I thought that you meant meanly that we were changing rules all along. But my post wasn't directed only toward you and not only because this current case. I've seen this a couple of time, here, that whenever someone get a chance to score some points, and the smallest doubt arises around his posting, at least one or two persons cry about it. But if there's a mistake around a two-pointer, there is a good chance that it will slip unnoticed.

But sorry again for this one.

All right then, many times I didn't use a word because it was closely related to the previous word. Now that I know I can use closely related words as long as I don't use the whole word, I can have more freedom in my word selections. Thanks for clearing that up everyone.
