The fact that the cost of living space when buying a home over here is something like $4.300 (and upwards) per square metre might have something to do with it ... 8|
No way I could afford anything much larger. So I had to make the most of the space. Which I have. :)

Not criticizing, of course. In US everything is huge by comparison. !

Another thing that struck me about european apts was that (a) washing machines seem to very frequently be in the kitchen and (a) NO DISHWASHERS.

Crazy, that. ;)

Agreed - and I must have a dishwasher (you can see it next to the stove). I also have my washing machine in a separate room. :)

Actually when I was there and the guy was showing me the apartment I was like, "There's no dishwasher here." And he said, "Are you kidding? Of course there is." And I'm like, "Well I don't see it." And he's like, "That's because your not looking - you have one of them at the end of each arm!"

And I was like, "Wait, you mean I can wash dishes with these??" :)

Heheheee ... Well, I've installed one of those integrated things, meaning it has the same front as the cupboards on its door. I had a housewarming party the other day with my colleagues from work - all I had to do before going to bed was put the bottles/cans in a plastic bag, throw out the trash and start up the dishwasher. Ahhhh lazyness ... :D

Nothing can beat it. And even if something could, I'd be too lazy to try it out. ;)

My ex was against buying one, so when we moved in together back in the day, I trumped it through and bought a dishwasher for my own money and against her protest.
After two weeks, she was completely converted. :D

Had someone shoot a snap of the indicator as my car passed 111.111 k. Always loved seeing all same numbers on digital clocks, so ... :)

Do you guys have roads where driving 130 km/h is actually legal? You can go that fast over here, but only when the police choose not to enforce the speed limits.

(That's about 80 mph for those of you who don't feel like doing math.)

It's the same here. Speed limit 100 kph, I'm doing about 115 here (the speedo is at about 125 but it's not entirely accurate at that speed). The police on these roads are mostly bothered with people who drive aggressively, not those who are just cruising along and driving sensibly (albeit a bit over the limit). That's their policy anyway. I like it; it's not often you find policemen using their reason.

Hmm, it turns out we do have some places where the speed limit is that high:

No, the car was running at that speed when the picture was taken, but the reason I wanted a pic was that it rounded 100k covered distance.
