(1). You have to have taken the picture or be in it.

What, the horns didn't tip you off?!

Those where taken by me on July 2008, during a 27km, three-day walk along the coast in southeast Brazil.

Yes you read correctly, that was July (= winter) in my homeland.

A random shot of me at the Halloween party last night. I'm the one in black. I don't remember who was talking to me with the red glove, but I don't look to excited to see them. :| The one in the blue (American) football jersey is a girl who's date came as a cheerleader. I'm so over that.

hmmmm.... edit to include the photo. *sigh* I'm still a touch brain dead.

27 KM in 3 days :| , how do you do that. Walk for one and a half hour and set up camp?
You can either agree with me, or be wrong...

Sorry Darkness, I hope this doens't sound offensive, it is surely not meant in that way. But you got no idea of what you're talking about. Unless you're joking, of course.

In case not, 27km on asfalt, downhill, without stops would take you at least three hours.

Let's take marathons for instance, which are 42,195km long. The actual world record states 2h 3 min and 59 secs, by Haile Gebrselassie. That means the best world marathonist in existence, running at his top shape and speed would make that same distance in 1h 15min, taken away a few minutes for its easier to run shorter distances.

Thats on asfalt. Mostly flat terrain.

Now lets see how much time he needs when doing the same inside the rain forest, going from 0 meters (see level) to 800m AGL through steep muddy slopes, dodging all kinds of branches and plants, carrying a 10-20kg backpack.

Do I really need to comment this further?

We are a good group of hikers, definately including the twelve year old that was part of the group. We needed, 5 hours on the first day, 7 on the second, and 3 1/2 on the last. And take my word for it: unless you are a very good hiker you would'nt have done a better time.

Last: we enjoyed the beaches and the nature too, for that is the very purpose of the trip.

:-D ;)

W.

P.S - Now what about commenting how beautiful it is, huh?

Those are beautiful pictures, nice coasts, but I especially like the third one, with the lake in the middle, it's a nice shot :)

Thanks for commenting Borsuc!

That picture you liked the most is the so called "Praia Negra" = black beach. Its a small bay with a reminescent native-brazilian community. There I have observed an interesting social phenomena: just like we used to play with toy-cars tied to a string when we where young, their youngsters would do the same with canoes tied to a string.

Canoes are the only way to reach that beach besides walking. And there is no sign of roads for a good bunch of kilometers. So... cars do not mean much.

Laughing they went, chasing each other, pulling their toy-canoes over sand and water.

Hehe we have something called the "Black Sea" (Marea Neagră) on the east of Romania :)

I think he posted it because it's the symbol of Thanksgiving day, not necessarily because of it being food. :)

It looks really delicious and really sadistic at the same time (cause we're talking about a tied-down, headless creature stuck in a oven for hours). Bon appétit!

There was an error message on the TV the other day... I guess technicians aren't paying too much attention at 4 o'clock in the morning... ;)
