He was in AB? Not quite a smacker-in-the-head, at least for me.Kareeah Indaga wrote:YES!!!Gaidal Cain wrote:Judge Fairweather?
Not another CD riddle, eh? Hum, never played MM8, looks like I'm out of this one.Gaidal Cain wrote:I think I should warn you that this riddle is a bit out of the ordinary, as not everything refers to something ingame...

Korbu? His Sarcophagus was near the inland sea made by the Portal to the Plane of Water, and his grave dirt was in Shadowspire.
-_- Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t make a riddle on someone REALLY obscure, or Heroes VI’s second expansion would have come out and it would still go unanswered.Mutare Drake wrote:He was in AB? Not quite a smacker-in-the-head, at least for me.

Nope. It does refer to something very much ingame, but one of the lines does refer to something that seems to have been the inspiration for that thing. Don't worry, I'll make it clear when Kareeah has figured out the riddleMutare Drake wrote: Not another CD riddle, eh? Hum, never played MM8, looks like I'm out of this one.
(No Kareeah, it's not Korbu. But you're getting a bit closer )

I'm sorry, I really tried. Or rather, I asked my very intelligent friend (who's never played Heroes) for his take on the riddle's possible meaning, and then I applied every AB character/instance I knew of to it. Ah well.Kareeah Indaga wrote: -_- Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t make a riddle on someone REALLY obscure, or Heroes VI’s second expansion would have come out and it would still go unanswered.
I await your explanation, Gaidal, yes once Kareeah gets the riddle. Go go go!
All this lack of knowledge on my part makes me really think I ought to actually sit down and play MM6 and 8, and all of H3. Not yet though, my friend just gave me an old copy of HoMM Millenium Edition, so I'm currently going through H1! Whee!!

Mace of the Sun? I can't think of any other item that would fit. Or perhaps Eclipse?Gaidal Cain wrote:Hmm. I think I should warn you that this riddle is a bit out of the ordinary, as not everything refers to something ingame...

No double guessing! Though , it is Eclipse:
Found in the spire Found in Shadowspire
or at the battered sea? this was the "real world" line; see below for details
Something for an esquire Esquire meant "Shield bearer" way back...
though he must a shepherd be I.e. you need to be a cleric to use it.
As for the real world, when I was in London, I visited the British museum, and bought one of them visitor guides (the admittance was free, so I used the money on that instead...). It was only when I got back that I found I had missed this beauty, found at battersea and thus known as the battersea shield:
Seems familiar, doesn't it
