Because it is the definitive hill-billy song. And KFC has incorporated it into its commercials, so now I'm stuck hearing it all the time when I watch tv.

I don't know who did it, but I can't imagine it being any worse than the original. And even if it was, it probably was that horrible of a butchering as Madonna's cover of American Pie. That piece of Bay City trash!
