I used to drag people into Red Hot Chili Peppers concerts at the time they made Mother's Milk (1989/90) trying to explain to them they would become the biggest act in the world one day.
I wasn't too wrong. The Peppers are one of the few good aspects of the mainstream today.
Tom Petty is one of the artists I personally classify as a "Greatest Hits" act (no, it hasn't got to do anything with chart success): A regular album has too many fillers for my taste (maybe with the exception of Long After Dark which I find really good), but get an "Anthology" or a Greatest Hits (Double) CD and you get a fine collection of brillant songs.
I thought, that Dani California has the riff of Mary Jane's Last Dance, but that's only me, probably. :)
By the way Omega, Nickelback opening for Everclear must have been a rather neat concert.

And Last Dance for Mary Jane apparently. No JJ, you're not the only one.

I like RHCP, but i think they're a bit overrated.

A little here and there. I like pretty much everything but rap and country. I'd say currently, my top 5 favorite bands are:

1) Muse
2) Deftones
3) Weezer
4) Garbage
5) Wallfowers

Weezer...

Didn't Weezer disband though? At least that's what I heard...
Haven't really followed their development...but I heard that tidbit a while back.

Yeah, Weezer went on indefinite hiatus. Which really bums me out. I swear, bands I like either disband or their members die off. Just like how most tv shows I like seemingly get cancelled.
