So, darknessfood, is it a tradtional Dutch thing to light up bonfires on New Year's?

edit: Oh, and another impression of the Netherlands: Dutch people have an obsession with steep stairs. (I guess it's for saving space or some other practical reason, but it's still funny/weird).

Yeah, it kinda is.But it depents on what part you live. Sometimes the police starts to whine about it.But yesterday our fire wasn't forbidden :D. A police car stopped,my girlfriend and myself were just walking towards it. The police stopped, ans ireally thought they were gonna give us a hard time, but they just sayd "gelukkig nieuwjaar (happy new year)" messed around with their lights and they left 8| .Really cool :D

Guess Flemish ppl share more than the language with their "neighbours" at the North. Same thing I've noticed in Flanders. Took me a while to learn how to go up and down their stairs w/o the fear of making a wrong step (and of course there's no talk about "running" up and down the stairs, like I used to do back home).

I think there's already a love thread somewhere, and these particular holidays are over. So's this thread, bye bye
