I thought the Polish team was kinda unlucky, they had chances but they didn't fall in. But furthermore, they didn't play very well!

Actually a scoring tie against the French might already be enough: if Rom-Fra 1:1, for example, and the Ita-Hol 0:0, since the last game is Ita-Fra, the Italians would be under pressure in their game against Romania. Theirs is the first game in the 2nd round, and a tie against Romania might then not be enough. So they would be forced to play for victory and that might do them no good.

Germany should have had a clear lead at half time.

Well Germany is in a crappy pool, as a dutchman i'd like to trade with them. Your plan sounds good enough, ithink that when the Italians play under pressure, they can't act really good, and start getting sloppy!

@Darkness
I saw a good polish team, they played a good game and didn't fall back, even after the first goal. They attacked and even had chances.

@JJ
Let's accept your presumption, that the first round will bring two ties, but I can hardly accept that Romania can beat Italy even if under pressure. And even with two ties and a win can qualify. There happened once that Italy passed the stage of the groups with three ties, and football is a game where anything can happen.
But I would say that France beats Romania, with 2-0 and Italy beats Holland with 2-1.

We'll see. I'd wish for a surprise Romanian victory against France, and after the Italians had stopped grimming Holland would beat them as well. THAT would be nice for a change.

Yes, a very helpless French team in a bad game. Typical first-round kick. No risk at all. A just 0:0.

Now let's see whether Holland and Italy can copy that.

I still wish for an Oranje victory.

I hope for a better game; I won't care which of the teams that wins as long as they play better than the French. At least one can sense a reason behind the Italians emphasis of defense; France just don't seem to have any idea at all.

Holland should be technically apt und fast. Italy will play it safe therefore. So let's hope for an early goal.

Nope, correct goal. The Italian guy lying beside the goal does count!

2:0 now. Oranje is clearly the better team. Italy looks too slow.

You were right JJ, the Romanians made a tie, and in the shadow of the recent events, we can wonder if Italy can go past the groups, 'cos they lacked speed and organisation. And even if the first goal is shadowed by the possibility of being an offside, the Dutch guys deserved this victory with a great match, they've did.

What I find amusing, is that people here are celebrating the tie. "We can beat everybody, we can win the cup" was the saying in the last weeks, and now they are happy about tie against a crappy french team that looked like sleeping on the pitch.

Well, the Oranje just played really nice and offensive. Really a well deserved victory, they started out just great.Italy wasn't really good, but still, when they played better they could not defeat Holland. Holland was just really good :)! The referee deserves some credit too, he did a great job :)!
