Depends on the visibility. If it's good, then I can see all sorts of stuff. And what kind of stuff depends on location and season. I've seen fish, various sea creatures and plants, and then there's all sorts of sunken treasure (garbage)... Mostly, though, my dives thus far have been about mastering the art of diving. You know, maintaining buoyancy without rising uncontrollably to the surface 'n' all that. I'm really beginning to get the hang of it now, after my 12th dive, controlling most aspects of my dive. It's only now really, that I can begin to enjoy being under water. Used to be just focusing on the technical bit of it.

Wow that actually sounds cool. Do you have an underwater camera?Kalah wrote:I'll be diving to down the wreck of the German battleship Tirpitz today. Can't wait.

I don't, yet; they're like 4-6000 crowns (ca. $1000). Anyway, loads to see. The wreck itself has been salvaged, but debris lies scattered across the shallow (1-6 metres) ocean floor. Twisted metal, tons of ammo/shells, and the odd jaw bone. Leave those in peace...

Kalah, have you ever got injured while diving? I got my finger stung. A sea-urchin, me thinks it's its name, or we call it here: Ouriço-do-mar. Also, and a very stupid one, when I went diving falling on my back into water, I miscalculated the distance, hit badly my lower back on the side of the boat (just picture the scene, it was fun but hurt like hell) and went really slowly into water, scratching my ribs on some nasty wooden-thing I dunno what it was, but hurt me all the same.
I went diving these days and I sneezed while diving and I spit my "mouth-thing I don't know the name in English" away, and had to emerge rather fast due fright. I just couldn't return diving. Felt like NOT advisable that day.

Just ran the annual test with the lads. Didn't have any hope of finishing it; just needed a bit of a workout. The test is 6x40m sprints in less than 6.2 seconds, with 1:30 minutes in between. Passed that with flying colours; I've always been a bit of a short-distance dasher. The second part is a real body-breaker; 20x150m with 0:30 in between. Needless to say, I expected to be gasping for air after five stretches, but I didn't even get that far. Since I haven't been running or cycling anything this winter, my thighs filled up with lactic acid after two runs. Oh, well.

Sure, I was really pumped. But it really is the training bit; last year I had trained on my bicycle, and then my legs were fine; it was the lack of stamina that eventually got to me. But imagine, if you will, running flat out 6x40m, then taking a break... and the second test we were running the other way; that's a slight uphill climb. Man, that lactic acid came quickly.
