I hope Elvin will forgive me for crossposting... :D

If you're looking for something serious, here's a list of recent books for mature readers:

Daniel Clowes: David Boring (Pantheon Books, 2000, 116 pages)
Alison Bechdel: Fun Home - A Family Tragicomic (Houghton Mifflin Company, 2006, 232 pages)
Jason Lutes: Berlin, Part One (Drawn & Quarterly, 2001, 209 pages)
Vaughan & Henrichon: Pride of Baghdad (DC, 2006, full color)
Adrian Tomine: Summer Blonde (Drawn & Quarterly, 2002, 132 pages)
Jessica Abel: La Perdida (Pantheon Books, 2006, 275 pages)
Linda Medley: Castle Waiting (Fantagraphics Books, 2006, 457 pages)

Anybody read those...? I'd really love to hear your thoughts.

(Oh, I am aware most of us cannot afford 10-50 bucks for these hardcovers, but the good news is I've found all those titles in the local university library. :) )

Hehe time permitting I may check them out. The local university thing seems a long shot for me though considering I live in Greece :D
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.
