I'd like to second the cheers, even though I'm not Canadian.
Wouldn't this be more appropiate in the Campfire though?

I was reading the Praise thread - this would be the right subject to be in there, as it seems.
A question: this is like Independence day or is it any other kind of celebration? Oh, by the way, congratulations for Canada.

Not really. From Wikipedia (because I couldn't write a better explanation):
"While it is the date upon which the present Canadian Constitution first came into effect, the first day of July does not commemorate a clear-cut date of "independence" or "founding". Instead, it commemorates the beginning of the establishment of the Canadian confederation through the 1867 British North America Act."

Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

We basically go to shows featuring Canadian artists and watch fireworks, and mostly enjoy having a day off. It cannot be compared to the Fourth of July. Here in Quebec the province's own day is much more popular for political reasons, and since most the of the population moves on July 1st, we're often too busy (moving or helping someone else move) to celebrate.Panda Tar wrote:So, you commemorate, amongst with this stuff, Discovering, Republic Proclamation and Independence days, or just this one?
