One could perhaps say that Lord Haart ruled at least large parts of Tatalia, but I'm not sure that's going to be accepted.

Yes, lord Haart was close - but never succeeded.

In HoMM III, how can creatures get themselves killed on the battlefield?

As the result of their own activity. And enemy creatures retaliation does not count.

Dragons can kill themself when attacking on enemy positioned between them. (Though improbable it's possible.)
And Magogs have similar gift too.

Sorry, I wasnt specific enough. I meant one stack killing itself not some other stack. If you meant one stack killing itself then can you please describe it closer, how.

Others mentioned are right, but there are more options.

Fairie dragons could cast area spells on themselves.

When interaction of two stacks is excluded, and spells can be involed, then Faerie Dragons are first in line. Giving hints to G.C. is not needed he is wise enough how he is

Here's a picture of spell book for Faerie Dragons, where you could pick a spell to cast. In first official edition of AB you could here only pick spell and for making game more competitive your choice was widely ignored.

Yes, and it's rumoured that it will be fixed in the WoG 3.59 :hoo:

I have never seen an option where you could pick a spell for Fairy dragon. You can right-click on it, but you cant choose anything from the spell-book, can you? Anyways in my experience game always picks a spell that doesnt hurt fairy dragon. And to come ahead of the next guess - thunderbirds agaist fairy dragons should theoretically be able to get killed, but they never do.

There is still one option that has not been mentioned. Actually the creatures have been mentioned, but not the situation (big hint).

Would a magog attacking something point-blank with a bow of the sharpshooter count?

Was working like, left click on spell book, it appears, and pick your spells - all in heroe style.

Faerie Dragons will hurt itself when casting area damage spell in which radius they are, you may test it if you don't believe me.

Ha, correct. Never was thinking about it. Magogs attacking adjancent unit, under hero equipped with the Bow of the Sharpshooter will hurt itself. Terrrible thing.

That is what you would like to hear, right? ;)

(Q.D. was first but I'm happy that I'm knowing that from now on and forever...)

Yes, that was the last one I was looking for.

And about Fairie Dragons. I have never been able to choose the spell. (Maybe I just dont have the right technique ;) )When you can self choose it then of course you can choose the one that hits dragon itself.

Anyways Qurqirish Dragon can ask the next one :)

That was possible in prerelease and here is only fat chance that you ever can get your hands on it. (I didn't.) :D In first release of AB only spellbook with the spells left but with no ability to choose from - that was disabled. (That I had)

Choosing the spell reguire different technique based on fact that in one turn FD will offer two spells to cast, before and after wait command. Mostly first is spell to damage single stack and after wait is often offered the spell with wider damage area. Such spell is targeted by F key. Let try ;)
