Glasses would have been cheaper...
The sound from his personally-designed amp is staggering; I tested the levels the other day just to see how loudly I could play before bothering the landords. The volume was only at about 70% when it got uncomfortable being in the room... and only then did they hear something upstairs.
But does it go up to 11?!

What's really funny about this IKEA bench that I got, is not the fact that it fits my TV (and can take the load) - because I checked that beforehand.

What I didn't check was whether the ampflifier, DVD and VHS players all fitted inside it, and look at the precision! They all fit ... just! :D

Be careful with that. Ventillation is important, especially for the amp. Should have a few inches on each side, and on top where the vents are. If you squish them all in like that you can greatly decrease their lifespan.

My two cents.

Thanks (and you're right), but the amp was designed by my dad, who really knows what he's doing. The case is aluminium and on the back there are long, thin comb plates taking the heat off (I can post a pic if you like).
Trust me, overheating will never be an issue with this thing. :-D

Well obviously if it's designed for it, that's a different story.

I've seen a number of conventional units squished into tiny spaces and then people wonder why they burn out in just a few years. :)

EAT MY GRUNDIG! :-D

Yup. That's right. Just bought myself a new flat screen TV. Unlike my old one, it's light and flat, has lots of different connectivity options and - of course - can be used for PC gaming/surfing, DVDs and music as well as watching TV. :)

It's always fun flashing the cash; I knew which one I wanted before going into the shop, had a quick test to see if the image was as good as I thought, and when the guy came over to ask if he could help me with anything, I simply said: "sell me one of these." :D
