I ran across a site with Arpil Lee's work. Here's a picture of Legolas she did:

Ahem:
In The Hobbit his father Thranduil was described as having "golden" hair, so many assume that Legolas must have been blond also (Indeed, both Ralph Bakshi and Peter Jackson make him blond in their respective film adaptations). However, Tolkien describes his head as "dark" when he shoots down a Ringwraith's fell beast in The Fellowship of the Ring in the following quote, suggesting the contrary to some:

'Frodo looked up at the Elf standing tall above him, as he gazed into the night, seeking a mark to shoot at. His head was dark, crowned with sharp white stars that glittered in the black pools of the sky behind.' (The Fellowship of the Ring, "The Great River")

According to this camp, his hair must be either dark brown or black, as was the norm for the Sindar. (Blond hair was mostly exclusive to the Vanyar.) However, the "blond" camp points out that the above quote takes place at night, and opines that his head may have appeared "dark" due to shadows or the darkness itself, rather than his actual hair colour.
I don't like his hair for some reason. Cool pic otherwise.

Among my favorite fantasy artists are John Howe and the artist(s) of the Disciples series. Perfectly dark and elegant art from them, full of contrast and detail.

And of course, there is Kouta Hirano, the artist I respect most of all:

Another Larry Elmore painting. Published as cover for the R. A. Salvatore novel "The Crystal Shard". Haven't read the book, but the painting is great nonetheless:

The problem with Larry Elmore : it's too static. That's why my favourite is the one he did for MM6.

edit : I'm also a big fan of hayao Miyazaki water colours :

Not all of his work is as great as this and the MM6 one, that's true. But it's a matter of taste. Paintings beeing static does not become a problem for me, it is the atmosphere and feeling of the painting that is important to me. From that point of view, "The Crystal Shard" is wonderful. IMO.

http://drakonis.135.it/

This link has some amazing pictures/avatars and other various things. I have found (already) dozens of avatars I personally would like (that mods would actually let me have) as well as even more the mods would never allow. Whoever does these may be one of the best out there...they are amazing.

On the topic of fantasy art: isn't this just an awful cover for the Silmarillion? I mean, who the heck is that guy supposed to be, Túrin? :|

Generic fantasy guy with sword, with 6 articulated joints. In store now. But i've seen worse, not that it's a good thing. Very few fantasy books have covers that i really liked.
