Thastlius. An underground city that lurks deep benieth the surface of the world. Deeper then even Warlocks dared to go. Deeper then the infernal legions had ever desired to go. Surrounding the city was several statues, each of the dragon gods were depicted facing outward away from the city. Each of these statues had a stone collar about their neck, and a chain that led to the biggest statue. A statue with no face.

First worshiped as the unseen, this race had exsisted in many planes, under many names, all with one purpose. To grind all of exsistance beneith its heels, and subjigate even the gods themselves. The Faceless, the Nameless, The Unseen. Many names had they been called, but only one thing remained constant. None of the 'lesser' beings were allowed to see their face. And since any being that was not one of their race were lesser, that meant not even the so called gods were allowed to gaze apon their perfection. For they thought they were perfect, and should by that fact hold dominon over the other imperfect races.

So far, they had been thwarted in their plans. Finally, however, they had set a plan into motion that would allow them to control this land. After, the rest of the schemes they had would all fall into place. It was only a matter of time. They had to keep the other races of this world in conflict, until they were ready. It was a small thing, for they hated each other and all it took was a few nudges in the right direction. Soon, the way would be complete. Soon all of the various pieces would fall into place.

Oh so that's why they are faceless, they have faces, but are hidden. (BTW - weren't the faceless also created by Asha?)

Anyway, did I allready miss it or is the story (your story) of linking the old universe and the new universe not yet made? I'd like to hear that one pretty please.

(you should know, my campaign is a link I made to the new universe... sort of)
Grah!

Oh there is much more to come, and yes they link the old worlds to the new. It may take years for the stories to be finished though, I am taking my time with them.

They traveled for days. As far as the eye could see was just sand, and more sand. The troops were tired, Freyda was frustrated, Duncan was well Duncan, and Jhora remained an enigma wrapped in a riddle. Her mere presence could either command attention or distract a guard to frustration. Haven troops avoided her when possible, either out of fear or worring about becoming ennamored with her. The troops they brought from the Towers treated her like a goddess.

Yet in all of this she remained distant and unmoved. Freyda had to respect how determined she seemed to be. At least they had tracked down a rumor about another of those strange artifacts. They were getting close, hopefully what they found would be worth all this traveling and headache. Freyda was still torn inside however. Duncan attention was flattering, but it seemed he would look at anything female. Freyda had even seen him looking at the odd feline troops that followed Jhora.
Jhora was a whole different matter. Freyda had never felt the things she felt for Jhora with any other woman. What is more, Jhora would smile a teasing smile whenever she could Freyda looking. Almost like she was inviting Freyda to make a comment.

Shaking her head Freyda noticed a small cloud of dust approaching ahead of them. "That would be our contacts." She alerted Duncan.

Duncan pulled his gaze from one of the skimpily dressed felines and looked at the small group of turban wearing individuals who were casually approaching. "Looks like it. Just in case I will have our troops ready in case it's a trap." Duncan falls back and starts issuing orders. Haven troops reluctantly obeyed, but the tower troops looked to Jhora. Until she nodded they ignored him. Once she gave the signal, however, they obeyed Duncan.

As they finally came within trading distance Jhora actually spoke. Freyda and Duncan realising that this is her area of expertise fell back a step. "You have brought the item?" Typical Jhora, straight to the point. Nobody would ever say she was a chatterbox.

"Yes Sa'hib. We would not risk your wrath if we had failed. We would be on the other side of the world by now." The eyes of the trader never rose from the sand. A slight trembled said that he was not just being polite.

"Bring it forth, and show us what you have." Instantly they brought a chest forth and opened it. Inside was something that resembled a phoenix cape, but it was pitch black. "Amazing, they have managed to twist even the phoenix to their whims. What does it do?" Her gaze was piercing as she gazed at the traders.

"It seems to make dark magics much more powerful. We do not know if it weakens resistance to it or empowers it. I am sorry Sa'hib." He cowers as if expecting to be nothing more then a speck any time.

"All is well, I am not displeased. Take your money and depart, leave the chest." Jhora turned to go back as if expecting to be obeyed instantly. She would have been, had something odd not occured.

Suddenly the sand was bucking and heaving and 4 huge cyclone like creatures emerged from the sand. Almost a air elemental, but larger and it was if the sand had blackened and grafted to them. In seconds a good quarter of the titans were destroyed and many haven and tower troops fell quickly. If not for the quick actions of Freyda, Duncan, and Jhora it would have been much worse.

Freyda gathered the light energy and raised back the Titans, her eyes glowing as she issued the order. "Destroy those things!"

Duncan discarded his useless bow, as wind did not make good targets for arrows, and instead lowered his shield and bashed into one of the huge beasts. The magical shield he used seemed to do tremendous damage to the beast.

Jhora calmly gathered her energy and brought down the fury of her magic apon the beasts. Suddenly all was quiet, Jhora just sitting calmly on her horse, aglow with power.

"What in the name of the light dragon was THAT?" demanded Freyda.

Duncan guessed "Some odd air elemental? I have never seen anything like that before."

Jhora mused "No, that was no elemental, believe me. I know much about the elementals. That was..different. I think our enemy has creatures we may have never seen before. We will have to be weary, I doubt this was their strongest creations."

(This is a short update, just because it has been awhile, look for a bigger update soon).

Freyda was tired, frustrated, and angry. The trip to Jhora's Labratory, to research the item they had gained, started off bad and went to worse. First some of the horses had went lame. Then one night while they were camping a horde of scorpians had invaded their camp. Jhora assured Freyda that it was not magically caused, but that did little to sooth Freyda's anger. Water skins had broken, sandstorms, it was if fate itself was against them.

They were still two days away from the labratory, and who knows what their mysterious enemy was up to during all of this. Freyda was not one to take it out on the soldiers or beasts, so instead she kept to her tent as much as possible. That is until their fortune turned arround, and an oasis was found. That meant fresh water, and a chance to take a much needed bath. She ordered a couple of the griffens to keep the men from seeing her bathe, and went to go soak in the water, after the camps needs were met.

As she approached she heard splashing, and realized somebody had beaten her too it. No matter, she really needed to bathe, and there was plenty of space, she could ensure the other did not intrude on her. If she had to go another second covered with this grime, heads would roll. If nothing else, she would just order the person out, she was in charge after all and rank has it's privilages.

She passed through the last set of trees, and gazed apon the crystal blue water of the oasis. A nice breeze wafted the scent of the water up to her..and the enticing sent of strawberries also. Wait, strawberries..who would have strawberries way out here? She got closer, and her face reddened.

Floating in the water was Jhora, and her clothing lay on the shore of the water. She languishly splashed water on herself, content just to float on the water. Freyda almost turned arround right then, but the water just looked too inviting. Oh well, at least it was another woman, it was not like it was Duncan or one of the soldiers. At least Jhora would not gawk at her while she bathed.

She quickly removed her gear, and quietly slipped into the water. It felt so good to finally be able to get all that sand off of her. She bathed and relaxed in the water for some time, oblivious to the world. It was sometime later that she realized she was being watched, yet the griffens had not scared whoever was watching her away.

Blushing and furious she turned to the shore to give whoever it was a piece of her mind. To her utter suprise Jhora, now clean and dressed, was the one watching her. That gaze was pretty intense, but before she could say or do anything Jhora just smiled and left.

(don't worry, will stay within the realm of good taste (no discriptions or such))

The trip to Jhora's lab was pretty uneventful. They spent a few days there while Jhora experimented with the unusual item they had retrieved. A unusual ritual started during this time. Every day Duncan would try to seduce Freyda, and every day he would end up face down in a bowl of water. Freyda was enjoying being chased, however, at least it was different from the others that either feared her or put her on some pedestal.

One night while Freyda was prepairing for bed there was a knock on her chamber door. Great, here's Duncan again, trying to get to spend the night in my chambers. As if that is going to happen. she thought. She jerked open the door, ready to read Duncan the riot act, but she was brought up short. Standing in the doorway was Jhora. She held the item in her hand.

"I am sorry to disturb you. Having completed my research, I thought you would be interested in my findings." She seemed amuzed at Freyda's expression, and then looked down and smiled mischieviously.

With a blush Freyda realized she was in her night clothes, if Duncan had been at the door she would have died of embarrassment. Pulling her nightclothes tight about her, she was not about to let Jhora think she was the least bit shaken. "Of course, of course, come right on in. We should discuss your findings immediately."

Jhora nodded sagely and entered the room. She walked to the writing desk in the room and spread out a parchment after clearing it off. Odd symbols and writing ordorned the parchement, and a drawing of the cape was in the middle. "Seems somebody has too much power on their hands, and too much time. Somebody has been very busy. Not only have they gathered rituals from all the various races, but from many different types of magic."

"I thought there was only 4 types, " said Freyda a bit confused "Light, Destructive, Dark, and Summoning."

"That is a common misconception. Actually technically there is two types of magic, but our understanding and how we chanel it determines what 'type' of magic we use. Magic is raw energy, it is how you shape it that is imporant. Possitive magic and Negative magic are the source of all the other types. Some go further to say that even these come from a single source, but the path taken there is why some are corrupted like the necromancers. For now let us go with the two source ideology."

Freyda looked confused, but agreed. "Your the specialist about this, if you say so."

Jhora just smiled. "It is very difficult to combine the styles of magic that all the different people use. Somebody has managed to do that, and then twist it to some vile purpose. They have used the second path, the dark energy path, and seeped the items made in it throughly. Not even artifacts would be safe if left bathing in that energy for very long. Whoever uses these items will become corrupt, even if the purest of hearts beat in their chest. The energy is too powerful. Whoever made these is seeking to corrupt the most powerful of our time. We must find them and stop them, or at least find a way to purify those who used these foul creations."

Freyda nods. "Now that I can understand. Any way of tracking them?"

Jhora actually hesitated with the reply. "One, but it requires some strong positive magical energy. There are only two ways to do this spell.." she looked away from Freyda.

"Out with it. Can't be that bad."

"Oh it is. Only by breaking a good artifact or sharing positive energies with another in a ancient ritual can I cast the spell. We have no artifiacts."

Freyda suddenly feels as if she should be nervous. "How exactly would you share positive energies with somebody?"

Jhora suddenly smiles and approaches Freyda. "Come, I will show you..."
