A good actress and very nice person as well. It's sad, especially considering her young age.

Sometimes people just die, you know...
If they die in the thirties, the chance is higher to be a health issue. And it could be one of the two mentioned by TT, but the possibility is no reason to jump to conclusions. There's something sad in our human nature to prefer the gossip, the negative explanation when it comes to the misfortune of somebody famous (hence of which we were, realizing or not, at least a bit jealous).
I'm not a reader of gossip columns, so I might be wrong on this, but the case of Brittany Murphy does not seem to be similar to those of Heath Ledger, Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears. Of Heath Ledger it was known that he was addicted on sleeping pills and anti-depressives for half a year, so it's not like he didn't have enough alarm bells. He had the choice of avoiding to push his body over the edge (even if that would have meant sacrificing his performance as Joker or whatnot) but he didn't take it. Maybe he was addicted to acting, putting it on top of everything, but that destroyed his life, his relationship and left a child without a father. Lohan & Spears are still alive, but of them we know as well that they were stupid enough to go too far more than once, so I guess they deserve the gossip. And if one day one of them will die, it won't be that much of a shocker.
But of Brittany Murphy I haven't heard similar stories. She was not notorious for doing drugs. In the articles about her death, I read that the directors she worked with the last few months said she was always responsible & joyful "at work", showing no sign of problems with health, drugs, drinking or even relationship. Of course you can never know everything, but at least it seems she wasn't going through any problems in her life which would be a motive of taking (secretly) to drugs, nor was she a "party girl" who knew no limits. As for "weight problems", not every thin girl is necessarily anorexic and I don't remember pics with her where one could count her ribs (as I've seen with Victoria Beckham, Keira Knightly, L.Lohan and some others).
Sorry to make a long post on this, but I don't like it when someone throws a flower on a grave, and the next one a phlegm (maybe TT's post is not as harsh as my comparison, but you get the idea). If you didn't like the person, stay out of the cemetery (aka the thread). At least for a while, until everybody's gone or wait for some more appropriate time (aka wait for the results of the autopsy & other investigations, before throwing assumptions).

I worked on one of his Crab Boats. It was in a shipyard in Anacortes, near where I live. Did some welding and fitting for him in one of the crab holds, I think. Or I did some repair work in shaft alley. I can't recall. I know he came up to me and shook my hand for doing a good job though. This was before the show was ever made.

In the last week two American TV stars from the 60s and 70s past away. Peter Graves best known for his portrayal of Jim Phelps in the TV version of Mission Impossible.
The second was Fess Parker known for portraying Davy Crockett in the Disney shows and later Daniel Boone in a series that last about 6 seasons.

Yesterday was a very, very sad day for Poland.
The Polish President, First Lady, Top Military Commanders, Advisors and many others died in a Plane Crash close to Smolensk, Russia. And what makes this even more symbolically tragic, is that they were on their way to attend the 70th anniversary of the Katyn forest massacre (next to Smolensk), where over 20,000 Polish officers were executed by the Soviets during WW2.
My deepest condolences to all the Polish members of this forum and a big R.I.P. for all the victims of the plane crash, as well as the victims of the Katyn massacre 70 years ago.
