Greatest Albums of All Time

Unread postby gravyluvr » 11 Aug 2006, 20:35

These may not make the popular list's top ten but I thought I'd put some ideas in the heads of the audiophiles here at the Round Table.

Any Zep, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Stones and Who albums always should get a listen. But here are some truly great albums that you might want to check out in their entirety.

Fleetwood Mac- 'Rumours'
Simon & Garfunkel- 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'
Supertramp- 'Breakfast in America'
Billy Joel - 'The Stranger'
Elton John - 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'
Steely Dan - 'Aja'
Talking Heads - 'Little Creatures'
Jackson Browne - 'Running On Empty' and 'The Pretender'

Also you may want to check out these Box Sets
The Police 'Message in a Box'
Tom Petty and The HEartbreakers - 'Playback'

Deep Dark Down... I was and still am a fan of "Arena" or "Corporate" Rock bands... Most "critics" trash this era because most the critics grew up in the 60s and never understood that these songs were "driving" rock. Blasting "Juke Box Hero" when you're driving down the highway... I miss that feeling.

Foreigner- 'Foreigner' and '4'
REO Speedwagon - 'You Can Tune a Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish' and 'Hi Infedility'
Journey - 'Escape'
Toto - 'IV'
Styx - 'Pieces of 8' and 'Paradise Theater' and 'The Grand Illusion'
Loverboy - 'Get Lucky'
Asia - 'Asia' and 'Alpha'
Boston - Boston
Kansas - Leftoverture
HEart - Dog & Butterfly
Pat Benetar - Crimes of Passion
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Van Halen 1984
Def Leppard- 'Pyromania' and 'Hysteria'
ZZ Top- 'Eliminator'
Huey Lewis & the News- 'Sports'
Aerosmith- 'Pump'
Billy Joel- 'Glass Houses'
Genesis - Duke and Genesis
Men At Work - Business As Usual
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Tears for Fears - Songs From the Big Chair
Queen - A Night at the Opera

There are more... but I have to go listen to some music now!

and the only one of those i have ever heard of is Atreyu .... but then I'm thinking of The Neverending Story, so that's probably not right

Thats there they took their name from.
All the bands play some kind of "Metal" or maybe hardcore. but i also listen
to some of the good old 80's tunes like Depeche Mode
