Kickstarter

Unread postby Ethric » 06 May 2012, 16:30

The new thing, it seems, which I've mostly read about at Penny Arcade. Then I saw this today: Zombicide! A zombie apocalypse board game, no less. I signed right up for the 100 $ dealie, 10 minutes before the funding-period ended (which is about right as I write this, according to the countdown).

So anyone else participated in any kickstarting? Use this thread to tell about fun stuff requiring a kickstart.

Sounds like it could be very profitable.

... or a complete waste of money. Take your pick. ;)

The specific board game in question or the Kickstarter concept? The former got 39 times the required money to start production, the latter is merely a service between companies and interested parties. I assume they get a small fee for said service.

It does look funny. :)
You do not mess with Claudia. You do not talk to Claudia. You do not get in Claudia's way. Hire her for $10!

When you put it like that, it sounds sordid...

It looks like Zombies!!!, but with more variety.

Gotta love those plastic zombies.

For a minute there I thought you were just very excited about zombies. Never tried Zombies!!!, but Zombicide does sound fun and varied :) You can even play as Sheldon Cooper (scroll down the page to "Dave the Geek").

So they have a prototype ready. and need the money for mass production?

$75 isn't that much compared to the price of board games these days. The bigger boxes easily go over $100.

Played my first game of Zombicide, and it's awesome! :D Reminiscent of Hero Quest of yore, but without the need for a DM-type. 5 out of 6 survivors made it to the exit, but Sheldon sacrificed hims elf for his fellow man.
