Already found a screen,

http://verkopen.marktplaats.nl/photopopup/362469570/1

Dont know if its good.

23 Inch is fine, 140 euro's.

Reactiontime is 5 ms. Is that enough for hardcore gaming?

Let see some reviews here and here

So for the money is stellar ..that can be agreed. Good for gaming too. The true reaction time will be slower, anyway excellent for gaming pleasure. (As to the matter and general confusion of "timing" it's like pmpo watts and watts. They look similar and they aren't. )

Myself I would go now only for lcd panel equipped with display port and better than s-pva matrix. Alas my needs are thoroughly different and the price range too :D

You kinda should told us that you have almost 1000€ to spend :P
That makes a breeze for planing new PC, kinda moves horizont.

Yes, that is. Although 2ms is better. :P

Naturally I have

Code: Select all

HP LP2065	| 8ms G2G	| 20" LG.Display S-IPS (LM201U05) or AU Optronics AMVA (M201UN02 V6)
And it's pretty well for gaming and video.
(Video mostly in my case.)

Just ordered a new laptop:

17.3" Full HD LED screen
Intel Core i7 820QM 1.73GHz (Turbo Boost 3.06GHz)
2x2 GB DDR3 SO-DIMM 1333MHz
2x500GB Harddrive SATA 7200RPM 2.5"
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
BluRay player / DVD-burner
MS Windows 7 Ultimate

Should be ok.

Congrats E.! :D

That's several times better than my PC, actually. Still I want portable one, the only think which holds me back - is lack of the money.

(Only it's ATI Mobility HD5870 :P )

Looks good, if it's not too pricey. Can be used for gaming, maybe, if the heat doesn't kill you.

Ah, yes, the cooling board thingy™. Or I could have my dad make you his home-made version. Btw. my Macbook Pro doesn't get hot at all.

It's a fashion item, and as such doesn't need to have any practical uses.

Well, a free computer is a free computer. I got it from work. Now all I have to do is learn how to use all its features ...

Free is free, no dispute here. :D

I'm thinking about this one. HP 5310m with Intel Dual Core 9300, W7P 32bits, 2GB DDR3, 5h of standby time, weight 1.72. With 5yrs warranty.

Drawbacks are, well the integrated Intel 4500MHD graphic card and just one memory slot.

Price is also not low, Display Port is a plus in my case keyboard and way it's solved num lock is also good. Also it's rumoured to be accompanied with matt screen. To put it into a quick calculation it would cost me about 700€.

But if I would be thinking about putting linux on this machine then the memory and card are drawing it back, hella to feel it with every click..

So, undecided yet.
