This one i can't see, try taking a picture and post that.
That video card looks kinda weak, and i always heard AMD is better at low prices.

And I think that you're still missing OS - W7Pro :), ..it wasn't just hdd.

Aspire is not so much convincing and the linked shop doesn't show all required information either.
200W PSU with nvidia 320 demonstrate, I'm afraid, very well its whole gaming power.

Your setup in basket seems to be better. :D

Or he could use his old WinXP... or get one by other means. Bill has enough money already.

Also, 64bit is still not mainstream enough, almost all programs i install go into the 32bit Program Files folder.

Or it could cost nothing... B-)

Re: TT
There's no reason to use old XP with such a card. Because you would lost an opportunity to run natively games in DX11. And that, looking to the future and even now, would be a huge miscalculation.

Also OS, apart from non-Microsoft exceptions - like linux, always cost something. It's not free.

There is other alternative though, if someone would want (for even better backward compatibility perhaps) just 32bits - then it will require only 3GB of RAM total. Only 64 bits systems can use more memory - usual limitations is now more likely to be posed in motherboard.

Errr, I don't think so.

On the other hand there is still some fluctuation in exchange rates - which is likely to be only thing having any impact.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but the heat production of any PC is high, and a laptop in particular if it has a good screen and can be used for gaming.

The heat not only reduces the machine's lifespan, but is also a real nuisance. This one I'm sitting with is getting immensely hot; it's practically melting my gonads and setting the table on which it stands on fire ...

My new Mac is actually not getting that hot at all. :)

Heh, when you think about "Mac" and "gaming", of course it won't get hot that much. :D

Wasn't it 3 and some change?

Oh, looks like it's more complex then that: http://www.vistaclues.com/reader-questi ... ows-vista/

More fans?

You will need to secure an airflow, so yes, generally more fans. Tower on CPU, fan in PSU, fan under PSU to blow air out, fan before hdds and maybe system fan close to your graphics card - if it will be powerful, the mounted one will not be enough. Prefer 12cm or more, slow, connected in cascade. If the result will be perfect air circulation you're done :D

Now, this is hard to generalize, cause every pc differ - components produce different heat. So, for example I'm on my htpc perfectly fine just with one slow fan. And my colleague from work with his gaming machine is having 6 fans, one of them is 14cm, other 12cm I think. Noctua, Arctic and mounted ones (psu, cpu cooler and gra).

But the best idea to keep cool computer is to select components which produce very little heat. Unfortunately these are usually also pretty well priced.

So, so far. Some fans are the cheapest solution.

BTW Pol, what are some good and relatively cheap fans to put under (but not on) a 8800gtx?

Your system has the (much) faster video card, but your friend's system has the (not so much) faster processor. So, it's your call. I'd get the AMD system with the Radeon HD 5750, if I were you.

Your's better balanced, more power for games. And that's because of your superior graphic card. In the end it just adds more than his processor.

If he(she) would bought that PC and add, let see same card like you're having - then he will beat you in every aspect. But with 5450 (htpc card + occasional gaming experience) it's very different story.
