I reject your pagan witch worshiping holiday... and replace it with my own.

I used to LOVE Halloween... Until I made it my livelihood. Now it seems like all I do is help OTHER people get dressed up to go out and do fun things.... while I'm stuck at work not getting to go out or do anything fun. Sucks.

Thank Heaven it's OVER! *sigh*

Thank God my niece, Amie, came to help me this year. The girl was a true Godsend. She not only helped keep the place clean, answered the phones and helped customers, she kept me laughing through most of the worst days. Anything to keep me sane and off the roof taking pot shots at people in the parking lot.

Nothing to do now but clean it all up. See what we sold out of. Decide what I want to re-order and what I want to 'let go'. Hide the scary and drag out the Merry because Christmas is barreling down on me.

Joy to the World!

I think it sounds like a great job. Like one you love. Deep down ;)
That counts for a lot.

I don't like mine. And we didn't even decorate for Halloween, even though I suggested it and it was approved...sux

I do love my job, most of the time. I even love it at Halloween, when I'm working with the fun people. Problem is, I normally have to deal with the problem children because in retail, sheet rolls UP hill.

And I hate the MESS! Why do people have to be so darned MESSY when they look at things? Always TOUCHING stuff they don't even want... then rumpling the packaging and stuffing it back in the wrong place or dropping it on the floor.

WORST of all are the people who do not like what they find... so they feel compelled to destroy the item so no one else will ever want it either. Like they have some NEED to destroy things that offend them. Then they get REALLY pissed off when I escort them to the cash register to PAY for the item.

Example: A woman came in looking for a Dread Lock wig. Apparently, we told her on the phone that we have one. When she arrived, the photo on the package didn't look like what she had in mind, so she tore the sealed plastic bag open to check it. Never mind that she's standing directly under a series of 8 or 9 bright yellow signs that read "Do Not Open Wigs" that go all the way across the top of the wig section. She half pulls the wig from the shredded bag and starts pulling the dreds apart bitching "These are not dreadlocks!" I walk up, catch her at it and tell her "Whether you want that or not, you're going to pay for it because you've just ruined that wig." She gets really pissy and starts telling me "But this is not what I wanted. Look! These are not dreads." and starts pulling another section apart. I have Zero idea of what she thought a dreadlock wig SHOULD look like, but my Rastafarian wig has been very popular for years. I then, politely tell her that whatever it is, it's my job to escort her to the register to pay for it. She complied... but complained bitterly about "I didn't see any signs! They were above my head not at eye level." Although when you stand at the front of the store and walk BACK toward the wig section... those bright yellow signs are as plain as the nose on your face!

I swear, if I took all the wigs off the 'eye level' section of the wall and installed one of those LED signs that flashed "Do Not Open Wigs" someone would still complain that they didn't see it!

Happy Halloween. :)

Some of the students at school set up a properly Halloweeny "ghost tunnel" and dressed up in costumes - quite a project. I showed up in my Victorian Gentleman costume; shirt, vest, top hat and a cane.

No kids knocking at home yet; if nobody comes, I'll eat my candy myself. ;)

I did change my avatar, though. :-D

If I come across a kid dressed up as a Jedi with Mickey Mouse ears, I'm giving him (or her) all my candy.
