Factors affecting score, ordered by importance:

  1. colour points - each damage point dealt by an opposing colour is doubled. See post above for team colour compositions per level. Note that you get damage points only once, meaning that enemy heals can be used to avoid non-colour damage
  2. creature size - resp. 10% 30% 50% bonus for each Large, Medium, Small sized unit used. Tip: use a statue in case a full S sized team is too hard
  3. survivability - 0-100% bonus for remaining health. Resurrected units do not count
  4. (base damage points) - base damage points are dependent on enemy HP. Enemies are random on most levels, so base score is also random
  5. mana - 0-10% bonus for % mana full
  6. overkill points - when dealing enough damage to kill a unit twice

So the ideal situation would be where you have a team of 5 Small units, deal damage only with opposing colours, end with 100% health (without using revive) and 100% mana and get some overkill points.

Yo, Wimfrits. Wouldn't 2 and 3 be reversed? I mean, creature size, for each small one, you get 50% bonus, equalling 250% for all 5. Whereas survivability means 20% for each one, equalling 100% for all. In order of importance, size would have greater bonus, with greater range, from 0-250%. Or so I think. :D

Yes good point. I'll change it for clarity. Ofcourse colour points, survivability and size are entwined.
E.g. I would go from 20% survivability to 100% by using a statue instead of a S unit.
Used Dark Elf for a long time for high colour dmg and high survivability against Angel and Astral Watcher. Or on lvl51 using 1 Legendary would make all the difference.

So in my personal experience it's more like 0-100% vs 2nn-250%.

That Weasel Shogun is nice! :-D I had it completely awakened, but seldom used it. I used the bomber or the mythril swords instead, which I had 4 of them with 3 dots. What are those "!"s beside the Ant and the Mantis? Something like "very good"? I like the Crane, because it heals itself and has a decent one-hit damage. It feels like that, for the the lower levels, single-hit/unit specials are better, right? Because getting random multiple hits like Mantis, Bee, etc. happen to kill units which are not of the opposite color by accident, then you don't optimize your color points. The Pyrat is also very good damage dealer. Coupled with the bat, they are quite the team.

The only units that seems like I'll never use are those goblin bombers, either the common or the rare ones. :D

Goblin Boomer? But they can hit the whole enemy team, maybe you should take them at mercy. They are not prime unit but have their use.

Yes. Ant with decent dmg, cleanse, heal all AND buffs
Mantis does insane dmg vs yellow. Indeed, you don't want to hit other colours. So in multi colour combat you'll hold fire until only yellow remains. E.g. try the cockatrice level with a mantis. You don't even need to trigger the combo :)

All white units have their use. Except gremlins :P
Crane is great. Key unit for Da Bomb Squad. Also one of the few dispelling units. I use weasel most because it's mana is lowest. On low levels, where all hits are one-shots, you can influence little else than the mana bonus

In Da Bomb, 40, I have been getting better results with 2 Red, 2 Black and 1 White. Most of the times, there are many white creatures to kill during the waves. On the last wave, both black help with killing the two bombs and the red ones are more than enough to take care of the goblin. Can you test a bit as well?

Gremlins are really just for show ;)
I'm sure people use them, but as far as random white small hitters go, I think weasels and swords do much better

@Tar: good one! Went up 4k with that. Adjusted the list.
Note that a Crane with an attack buff can one-shot a bomb. And that bombs have a 8-turn countdown..

Ok. Tested against black dragon at BT39.
Gremlin: 9k. 2/5 crits
Weasel: 11k 0/10 crits
Sword: 20k 6 hits 0 crits
Sword is totemed and silver enchanted. Gremlin and Weasel only bronze ench

Gremlin is better than I thought. And it's lower dmg is compensated by splash dmg. So I will surely use it when facing 6 bosses :-D

Lv 43 may also have some tweaking depending on which units come to fight you. I chose picking 2 Reds instead of a Yellow. However first and second waves appeared around 6 blue units. Even then, I got a higher score by 6K difference. I think if I try again and less blue units appear, I may be able to rise even more. Another thing to consider is taking another White, because many black units appeared. Green had not many uses either ...

Testing ...

Ok, tested. 2 Reds, 2 Whites, 1 Blue. Twice. Raised another 3K. Had less blue and few yellow. Many black units.

Yes, 43 is quite fickle. I'll run some tests as well.
Weasel or sword (or gremlin) can deal with black.

Updated 5 with G instead of A in case you can one-shot the Colossus

In Da Nile, have you ever tried 2 Blues, 2 Whites and 1 Green? The last draft I managed to increase my score had so many red creatures that it would surpass the need of having a Red one on my side. The problem in this setting is having 2 weak units when facing Sphinx. However, with one of the blue or White units healing (perhaps Jester or Clockwerk, the former also cleansing), it might be possible keeping blue alive; meanwhile, green focuses on attacking Sphinx and all other units attack the sandstorm spawns.

Currently using Ant, Mantis, Raven, Butterfly, Crane. But my score is not great (313k)
