Swordbearer, really?

That's an awful name... just use Paladin or Crusader...

EDIT: Ok, so Academy has Magic Bird... man, i hope those are early place-holder translations.

What? Some people actually thought it was only mere 'awful'?

But yes, I assume these are just placeholder names. I mean, horseman?

Is it a Pony? Is it an Cow? No its Horseman!!

I think they're just expending their target group. With names like Magic Bird, even young kids down age 5 and below, can play this and enjoy the awsome attack of Magic Bird. Now 'swordbearer' might be difficult to pronounce, so maybe they should rename him to Swordman - would also go well with horseman ;|
Again, make it logical for the kids. A man on a horse, is a horseman.. Gee, you risk looking all intellectual and stuff with your advanced terms, crusader and paladin tsk tsk :D

Swordbearer is a fine name, but Magic Bird is completely unacceptable! :disagree:

I voted 3rd option. :P Why? Because no matter what its name will be in English, I fear it translated name to my language will be much, much worser. :P

Oh, one question to Kalah: Can you tell us, what was first name of this unit before Ubi choose Swordbearer?

Aww you beat me to it :p Was gonna ask for a 4th option : "I don't care about the english name as long as the <insert own language> version is cool !" :D

No amount of name changing will change the fact that most units are just humans in armor. I'd like some innovation here after all this time or else I'd prefer the faction dropped.

As for an alternate name, how about Sword Holder, Sword Swinger, Sword Carrier, Sword Owner, Sword Stabber... Sword Master <- that one's real.

Mr. CragHack, I vote for Sword Owner :hoo: Brilliant.
As for own language names. Dunno know if Sværd Bærer (bearer and carrier is much the same in Danish), Hestemand and Magisk Fugl is any better than in English ;|

I don't remember what the first idea was, but I think all sorts of ideas popped up, including names from the previous instalments of the series. Nor am I sure if this name is final. Traditionally in game making, changing a name is one of the simpler things that can be done if the fans want it. Not sure how I feel about it, though; it sounds a bit weird, but it could be one of those things you get used to after a while.
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.

The name is indeed strange, but I somehow like the look, muscular and manly, like a swordbearer has to look like.

So looks like Magic Bird is indeed not the final name, as Fabrice calls it an Arcane Eagle here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEHVvrlO_ks

Well, i guess it's slightly better...

I thought it was amusing the dance he did towards the end of the video in response to which homm game the guy should start with. H4 didn't even get an honorable mention.

Most of the names are placeholders. But all suggestions are welcome to choose the best possible names :)

SOme names like Champion or Paladin might not be available though, as they are used for Creature Tiers or Hero Classes since H6.
