But if you pin her units in with your gated units, don't they get hit by the fireball ballista too?wimfrits wrote:The combination of gating and the ballista perk creates an exploitable situation

You mean in the 3.1 patch? That would turn things around again; first the AI did not ignore gated units, in 3.0 (?) the AI ignored gated units.Elvin wrote:Used to, now the AI does not ignore gates.
Doesn't reduce the effectiveness of a ballista/gating combination one bit though; merely changes the combat strategy
Like Elvin said, they don't. But the fireball itself isn't that interesting; especially since it's damage has been reduced in ToE.KiOwA wrote:But if you pin her units in with your gated units, don't they get hit by the fireball ballista too?
You can compare the ballista/gating combination with warlock/stalkers, only without the spellpoint limitation.
Ballista/stalkers is hideously unbalanced btw
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
The AI ignoring gated stacks never was about the ballista, you could simply keep large walkers moving around for an indefinite time, a silly abuse. And stalkers are not as they used to be, now enemies move around trying to find them.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Well for me it's not a big difference, because I never did cheap tricks like Firewall abuse and such thingsElvin wrote:And stalkers are not as they used to be, now enemies move around trying to find them.
No matter how powerful one becomes, there is always someone stronger. That's why I'm in a constant pursuit of power, so I can be prepared when an enemy tries to take advantage of me.
Well that Firewall trick was pretty lame IMO, I mean, the AI was too stupid (even if it didn't want to search for your invisible units, at least make it run out of the Firewall sheesh...)

Terrible! Now I see why that could be abused... At the very least the fireball should affect friendly units too. A 'smart' fireball... even modern precision weapons aren't that accurateElvin wrote:Nope. The fireball only hurt enemies.
