spellpower with necro

Unread postby HOMMV_N00B » 01 Feb 2008, 09:16

I know that necro has potential for getting high spellpower. Most of the times I pick enlightment to push it even higher. But is this necesary? I get the feeling that non of the dark spells benefith from it. It doesn't really seem to matter if he's slowed for 13 turns or 15. The game as already ended most of the time.

You're right, it doesn't matter. Your extra skill slot would be better spent on something else.
Jesus saves, Allah forgives, Cthulhu thinks you'd make a nice sandwich.

Decay, Frenzy, Blind, Puppet Master, Vampirism and Curse of the Netherworld all benefit lots from it. It doesn't really help much with the others, though if you pick Summoning magic it benefits more from high spellpower.

Enlightenment is one of the must picks for me. More spellpower is good, puppet with 30 power will barely decrease the targeted unit's initiative and the extra defense is always helpful. But the main reason you want it is intelligence and most probably arcane intuition for swift mind.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

If you use Raise Dead, then Spellpower is VERY important.

But since you're playing necro, you are using raise dead? It's their best spell... or do I miss something?

Well I think that's what Akul is trying to say.. Spellpower is important in Necro specifically because of raise dead.

As Necro, I also prefer more spellpower than knowledge. Greater knowledge is only an advantage in the early parts of the game. With proper planning & Mark of the Necromancer ability, the Necro player should be able to solve the early insufficient mana problem.
