AI dificulty settings

Unread postby krs » 25 Nov 2007, 09:43

Is there a way to play with the resources on normal, but have the AI on expert?

Not unless you script an event giving you ressources on day 1.

Or play with the data files.

@Nelgirith - this is a big workarround and you have to do it for every map and every player :(. Do you know of some ready made maps scripted this way?

@Gaidal Cain - This sounds better. You do it once and never take care of it again. Do you know if this is already done in a mod or so?

Well, I modded something similar at least for earlier versions. It shouldn't be so hard (unless I've forgotten/missed something about Ubival destroying all modding possibilities).

It's very easy to do. Here is the download. Standard player starting resources versus expert and heroic AI. It's for TotE, put it into the \UserMODs folder.

would it be necessary to convert this folder into a pak or h5u file?...

???

If you have TotE installed there is a folder called UserMODs in your games root folder. Copy the file tote_resources.h5u into it. That's all.

Bah, the downloaded file was zip and we must convert this into h5u file right? Since I don't see any h5u file in the zip.

That's why I asked that, thank you!

The file is already .h5u and when I try to download I will get a tote_resources.h5u.
No idea why you will get a zip file. It's the same. Rename back from .zip to .h5u if your browser prefers to rename it on its own.

unless you mod the heroic mode so it gives you the normal amount of resources but the tough AI. :creative:

P.S. Or ask someone to do that in the modders workshop, that's what i would do! B-)

P.S.S. (or is it P.P.S. ? i dunno)they might not want to do that tho

What are you talking about Wulfstan ? The mod is already available. See post 6 of this thread. Normal resources versus expert and heroic AI.

If you get a zip file when downloading, it's because IE is silently renaming the file for you... As Larkin said, just rename it.

10x for the mod. Was simple, if you know where to look at :).

I have another question now. Are neutrals playing better on heroic? (I found some descriptions of the dificulty modifiers, in the fan-made manual, but I think there AI referes only to computer player).

Can someone shed some light into this?

Neutrals play the same. - But I can give them some more increase rate. Like * 1.25 per week.

@LarkinVB - The mod is ok for now. I was just wondering if the dificulty settings also affect the neutral way of fighting.
