I've been playing the open beta for quite a while now (I actually subscribed to fileplanet to get it early, one more promotion scheme that got the best of me)...
And there's one feature that I still don't understand what is the point of, and that's Hero Trace, is it really that usefull, as far as I can see the only thing it's doing atm is making sure our game lags EVEN more as we progress through a game, hopeing to god we don't crash next turn.
Not to mention the horrible bug that makes your second hero leave a trace even on level 1 if your main hero is strong enough.
That path you leave behind most often the not obstructs even more important objects on the advmap, and in one case even looks like a fart (that is if Undead could fart).
So I would really like to see some more usefulness to it, or just remove it from the game cause it's terribely annoying.
I personally just turned it off...
Hero Trace, do we really need it?

It has some use for detecting the strength of enemy hero when it passes through your lands during your turn. Even if he ends under shroud again, so that you cannot right-click on him, you can tell whether he was a scout or something more. Beside that, it is only eyecandy that is supposed to add some atmosphere I think.
The track is real-time, and you can reduce its visibility by moving with little steps and wait pauses and by simply waiting you can end your turn without leaving any tracks visible for opponents. IF tracks would give highly vital information, such implemention would be a disaster.
