Noob question

Unread postby gonzalezbr » 01 Jul 2007, 17:08

Hey
when you play in Heroic mode, is it just me or the computer turns take a LOOOOOOOONG time? I've been using the homm5 no hof, 1.5, with that random map generator that is around there somewhere, and after some turns(i guess its when the comp reaches another area), the comp turn starts to take long. Too long. Very long. Boring long =/ Unawaitable long =/

Can anyone help me on this? thnx ^_^

The computer turns in H5 take a long time. There's not much you can do about it. It's one of the bad things about the game.

I upgraded my RAM to 2.0 GB and that helped a lot with respect to how long the AI's turns were taking.

Also the larger the map, the longer it will take.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

On the easier difficulties, the cpu won't bother with the higher end spells.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Welcome to the forums, gonzalezbr! ;)

Yes indeed. The AI will take incredibly long turns...the bigger the map, the longer the turns take. If he happens to get the Instant Travel spell, then the turns will slow to a crawl.

It's a known issue...not much you can do there..sorry. :(

It's funny, there's another thread around here with the setvar ai_time_limit = 18000 trick. You put that line into the autoexec_cfg1 in profiles (same group folder as maps).

The first time I tried it it didn't do anything. The second time I tried I put the line into a different location, not at the bottom but in with some similar lines and it worked.

It made the XL map Isles of Terra playable for me.

Well you could change it to something like 24000...the original person who came up with the fix had done testing and thought that 18000 was the best number.

Did it work at all though?

yup it works very fine
but its like... you give the pc 20s, then when he battles the time is "freezed", so it can still take a long after he gets a lot of heroes
