A potential problem with the new Orc lineup?

Unread postby King Imp » 10 Jun 2007, 20:02

With the news coming out about the new abilities, it was stated that the Centaur in the Orc army is going to be a 2x2 unit. Looking at the other screenshots, to me it looks like this army has four 2x2 units.

That brings up a problem. How to you fit 7 units now unless you have Tactics?

I think only the Centaur, the Wyvern and the Cyclop are large creatures
Hide, listen, watch, learn… And when the time is right, strike from the shadow.

It's not that hard. You can still fit 3 other units on the field even if you have 4 large creatures.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Interesting, am I the only one who think that 2x2 creatures format is ultra-stupid in Heroes ?
I mean, battles in HoMM were always shown schematically. Here is a place for hundred zombies, here is for hundred vampires. It is one schematical point at battle field for any detachment from one to several thousand units in it.
And tell me, for what darn reason we need a 4 times bigger schematical place on battle field for liches ?
I hated this in prev. Heroes games all well, but in H4 it's less noticable and in H5 it's most noticable.

Such is the tradeoff we get for being able to arrange units before battle.

And why cant we arrange units before battle if they are of the same size ?

I think it would be cool if any stack would grow to 2x2, only when its creatures count, lets say, more than 1000.

Looking at the screenshots, there are two big units that are clearly not a base unit and it's upgrade. They look too different to be the same. I believe one is the Cyclops and the other is probably the Orc Warlord.

As far as I remember in H 3 we had one-hex creatures and two-hex creatures (and the number of big creatures was very different for each army; if you play wog with commanders you may find yourself in an awkward position when playing fortress).
Heroes 4 had the biggest differences of all. Compare a Dragon Golem with a sprite, for example.

Off topic? In a speculative thread while answering a more or less general point to the whole game someone else made?
Looks like you are the clown here.

JJ, easy. I guess you missed that. Everyone with 1424 posts gets the "clown" status.
