HV performance vs HoF performance?

Unread postby jerseys » 10 May 2007, 17:31

Is it just me or does HoF run slower then the original H5? I just bought the game and I'm playing the H5 campaign and everything runs smooth and fast. But when I played a custom map in HoF the adventure map run kinda slow and choppy while rotating and moving. The castle view and combat run the same, but in HoF while entering a castle there's a couple second pause. I run HoF in 2.1

Odd, for me they both run at the same speeds, on adventure and combat screens.

Some terrains run slower for me, like swamp and desert, while forest and water are just fine. I didn't notice any difference in the town view.

From what I know, HoF 2.1 runs faster than original, if to turn off AA. But that was before 1.5

From what I heard, the AI in HoF is much slower than that from the original, though I can't say for sure as I don't have HoF yet (will buy it soon though)

Same here. Alot smoother...though the A.I turns are slower but seems to do a better job in using strategic and tactical moves, anyone noticed the same? Maybe THATS the expense on slower A.I turns?

I've done some testing, and yes - the snow terrain and lava do seem to run slower on both. But still I've got oryginal h5 with the anty aliasing in the middle and it runs a bit faster that HoF with anty aliasing and special effects turned off. Also while playing Hof I get this weird glich: when I pick something like a pile of resources it first turns transparent and disappears after about a second. Wierd.

Oh, and I run h5 in 1.41 because there's no 1.5 yet for my version. HoF is in 2.1. Does it matter if I installed HoF when h5 was still in 1.2?

To Angelspit and the other having issues with performances:

Use the graphic tweaker and disable some unnecessay stuff like shadows and lightmap stuff.

The game will look identical...only 4x faster.
And with the passing of strange eons, even death may die.

Thanks Romanov77! You're great!

Does the tweaker work for 2.1? Is there some help file, because I had trouble setting a profile. Do you have to set you main profile from the game in the tweaker or is it some other profile?
