Patch 1.4

Unread postby Mael » 07 Mar 2007, 20:17

Hi, I'm new on this forum, but I've been browsing this site since Heroes III.

After I've bought Heroes V last month, I finally decided to install the patch 1.4. The problem is, when I try to install it, it says "heroes V isn't installed, the patch cannot be applied".

I really don't understand, does anyone knows about this bug ???

Thanks a lot.

Make sure your patch version matches your game version. Also, cracks have been known to mess up patch installation, obviously.

im from Canada as well, northern Alberta, and for some reason i do not understand the copy of HOMM V I bought here at a local store is a European Version.
So far no one has been able to explain why European copies are distributed in North America.

For many, if not all, industries Canada is a European country. You should be happy, you're both in North America and in Europe :D

The same works for Australia and New Zealand. See the connection?: Long live the Queen! ;)

I guess you could count Israel too, but for other reasons...

i can see the connection between Europe and Canada, but there is actually very little european products in Canada, i cant really think of any off hand.
HOMMV is probably the first european thing ive owned.
pretty much everything is made in asia nowadays.

It has also been reported that people in the US have european versions as well. which also makes no sense, since if they didnt get it, who got the north american versions? Australia?
i think it would make more sense for Canada to get the north american version too.

Mael : i would suggest trying the european first, before you try others.

hmmm, i think there is two european ones isnt there?
collectors and regular? have you tried both?

if not, maybe you can find clues on your gamebox and manual....

but, then i just looked at my HOMMV box, and i think im more confused then ever....
the DVD was made in singapore, is labelled AUS DVD-ROM, which seems to stand for Australian, but its been distributed through Montreal, rated with European standards, and in the manual, a United Kingdom adress is given to return the DVD for warranty.
so there does seem to be some clues that i have the european version...

there must be a better way of finding out though.

hate to suggest you try each and every patch....but you might have to

Because otherwise the french-speakers in Quebec wouldn't get the game in their own tongue?

I have not been able to install the patch... It's troublesome, but I really don't know what I can do. I have tried each and every patch.
I'm going to play with the normal setting then.
MAybe it's beacause of my routeur ? I had lots of trouble with heroes III because of that, but I thaught it was okay. Anyway, thanks for your help.

>> And you are right Cain, it's because of us, quebecers, that we have does european copies.

You have tried 1.1 then 1.2 then 1.3 and then 1.4 patch? Not from 1.0 to 1.4 to start with. Not sure, but I think 1.4 needs 1.3 to be installed first. And 1.3 needs 1.2 who needs 1.1. Crazy. And possibly not true.
