Strange Fiends

Unread postby Bahototh » 11 Dec 2006, 16:52

I've encountered a strange bug (?) since I installed HoF.
Whenever I face neutral Pit Fiends or Pit Lords, they don't do anything but wait for me to slaughter them. They don't cast spells, or even attack when I'm close with troops.

anyone else noticed the same?

I've had that happen once in 1.3.
Could have something to do with the pit fiends/lords having spell points to cast fireball/meteor shower, but being too close to one of your own units to cast it safely.

What are the odds of that happening?Besides, they can always cast on you,and the AI doesnt care if it hurts its allies with a spell.

1 out of x (where x is the amount of times I've fought pit fiends/lords) As for the question, don't ask me...it's the same AI that makes Horned Overseers explode without reason. :D I just assume it's some sort of glitch.

Actually it's a new feature. Now all neutrals have a random morality that may even be opposite to their alignment spectrum. In which case we have the pitlord pacifists.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

 That's pretty good. What would happen with neutral peasants, though?

I suppose they'd get a negative taxpayer. But it would change to mercenary :devious:

Not bad ideas at all, getting 2 creatures or more in one depending on morality :devious:

haha. Not bad at all. I wonder what Biara would be like with reversed morality? The "good guys" need her (she's invulnerable; always finding a way to get out of a problem ). But, she's so dastardly when she's evil that I don't want to see her as a "good guy" (that would be weird...to the point of being scary, actually).

You forgot the part where she gets resurrected by the "Powers That May Be",
with no apparent explanation.

And yes...she'd probably be scarier as a good guy (or girl :) ).

I've had this happen once as well under patch 1.3. I don't remember what I was against but I'm pretty sure it wasn't pit fiends. I think it was against some Djinn. Thankfully it only happened once in a very minor battle.

At least it happens a lot less than what it used to back in Heroes 3 :D.
In Heroes 3, it got to the point where it was ridiculous :).

Must be how the AI calculates the battle plan (how it's going to attack and where; that applies back in 3 and now in 5 too).
