Nature propably is the summoning school. :creative:

It sounds so stupid, destructive magic. It's so, so childish.. :baby:

Yes,they should have called it Used-To-Inflict-Severe-Damage magic,or UTISD magic. In fact, they should rename all scools. So we can have Used-To-Heal-Damage-And-Bless-Allies (UTHDABA) magic,Used-To-Curse-Enemies-And-Raise-Undead (UTCEARU) magic, and Used-To-Summon-Fodder-Creatures (UTSFC) magic

Well I just think that Destructive magic is a bit lame - it's like it'll cause the battle field to blow up, whilest spells like magic arrow are in it aswell.

Well,I dont see how a magic arrow can be constructive. So calling it destructive is somehow logical.

You can construct a cube of magical arrows

But as someone said elsewhere, the more you think about it, the more you see there isn't an alternative, and it's actually a reasonable name where you have to get used to, and then you'll like it...

Especially since there's no "constructive" or anything to balance it...I suppose summoning could be considered creating something thus it's constructing something, but it's not the same. While yeah, there's not too many alternatives, I think they could come up with something...let's see: my compy's thesaurus says: pernicious, ruinous, fatal, fateful, catastrophic, and calamitous are synonyms.

I don't know, but none of those seems to fit with a school, that seems mostly based on damage spells. Those synonyms more brings an image to my mind of old decrepit ruins, not a bunch of meteors falling down from the sky, destroying armies.

@ Daemian - Well yeah, I figure we'll have to get used to the 3D as well.

@ Thunder Titan - Yeah, it's a real riddle.

@ Mutare Drake - Well those don't really fit like destructive magic... And you can get used to it.

What do you have against Chanlightning? Now only thing which lefts it's to start to criticize Armageddon. (hopefully won't be included)

The Destructive is perhaps not exact, but it's in short, the "Scholl of Quick and Ultimate Actions", it's somehow too long even if more precise term, perhaps.

And what could be used better then strike of lightning to get the idea? :D

I have nothing against the spells - on the contrary I like those spells.

As I said, I have to get used to how they are named. The more I talk about it, the more I see that it's a good name afterall.

Not so much a good name as the only name that comes to mind! That's why everyone will eventualy get used to it.

True. And if that's the biggest problem anyone has with H5...awesome! It's not the biggest deal.

Well, not every magic has to have its opposite.Look at HIV.Opposites were life - death and order - chaos. But nature had no real opposites, since death and chaos are both part of it,and might was opposed to all.So we have no need for "constructive" magic. And it really isnt such a bad name. Its like having problem with the name of disintegrate spell.

And isn't Summoning the opposite of Destructive? One creates and the other destroys...

Not really. The name "Summoning" implies that it transports the elves/elementals/waspworts/whatever-applicable-in-H5 to the caster, not that it creates them out of nothing.

Not quite.Summoning just transports an object that already exists near the caster. The opposite of destruction would be conjuration.

Hmm what if Light magic include life magic , and Dark magic include death magic?
And Destructive includes Chaos and Nature includes Summoning?

*Sigh* I hope it gets confirmed soon, a bit confusing which magic schools there are and which names they really have ;|
