Question about the time limit.

Unread postby Braxen » 01 Sep 2006, 17:36

Hey buddies.

Just started my first online map against a friend. How does the timelimit work during fights? I´m not talking about dynamic battles but the timelimit for ones turn.

Does it go with half speed or what´s the case?

THanks!

Oh, and what time limits are you guys using for a very big map? My friend is so rediculously slow that we have a 20min limit per round...and no dynamic battles.

His last round (which was on day 5 I might add) took almost 18 minutes. And no, he didn´t want to use ghost mode.

Plenty of time to find a new friend.

Hehe..yeah..should do that.

I will definately demand dynamic battles for the next fight. We are now playing a very large map (warlords I think) and his rounds range between 3 and 15 minutes.

I should think that he averages about 7-8 minutes

He blames his slow computer (load times etc)...but I just know that he isn´t very efficient when playing. Otherwise a great combatant. :)

7-8 minutes per turn must really get you down, that would be unplayable for me

7-8 minutes is great average time.

Though, in H3 that is, where I could easily move cursor, check things on map, and effortlessly TAB-ALT. Sadly, not the case with H5.

it may be "great" for a multiplayer game, but it is not "great", great is no more than 30 seconds (which is not likely to happen in an MP game I know)

7-8 minutes of sitting there, waiting, is BORING!

I once played an allied map. In one sitting.

For 14 hours. :tired:

Was great game though!

I can do that in SP without the need to rush, but neither do i have to wait almost 10 minutes a turn!!! Admittedly I do need to put up with the ai though

Sometimes we don't notice time in OUR turn... :D I can't stand the AI taking more than 1 minute, but my turn can easily triple that amount of time :-D

I haven't done this multiplayer thing that seems to take so long. Are you guys using quick combat? Or is that feature screwed up?

well it's never a problem when it's your turn Lady Farquad :) .... the problem starts when you hit the end-turn button

Turn off the time limit

Unread postby Blueman » 03 Nov 2006, 19:53

Hi guys,

Just checking if you know of a mod to turn of the time limit in battles. It is a much bigger problem than it would seem.
I used to play 4-6 minutes turns in H4 and it was fine because the battle timer was turned off. It is a major problem, especially at the beginning of a MP game: some battles just take much longer, no matter how fast you click - and when you finish, so does tour turn. Now, we are playing 10 min. turns and sometimes it is still not "enought". Also, the strategy changes, as you have to make sure you moved all scouts and that you've built that day before going into tricky battles (to read: time-consuming).
In battles against another human player, the (atacked) opponent can just not click fast enough so that even if you win your turn would be over at the end of the combat.

I appreciate any hints.

well I've played about 30 mp games @ toheroes.com
some players use over 15 min av.... (somethimes up to 25 min pr. turn)

(even with QC on)..... but who accept te result.... :)
I really miss any mana use from QC...... some battles.... the hero can spend a lots of mana with no use... at all.... :(

When I play MP I use 2 computers...... on the other players turn I surf around on my 2'nd computer..... :)
