Unread postby BlackLotus » 30 Aug 2006, 06:59

Can someone tell me when the Map Editor will be release for HOMM V? There seems to be an information drought on this subject.

No one can. It will be in patch 1.3, and everyone hopes to get this patch out by the end of this week, but it's by no means a sure thing.

Warper of Nival

Unread postby BlackLotus » 03 Sep 2006, 05:25

I have recently contacted warper who is a moderator of the Nival forums site, he has assured me that the map editor along with the 1.3 patch is in it's final testing stages and that it will be released sometime in September.

This is what I have learned so far, I'll try to contact him soon within the next few days and try to get him to write back to me.

I can confirm it. There is a new Heroes V map available for download in the modding section of heroescommunity (age of heroes). Haven't tried it myself but the person who made the map said the editor is very similar to the one from heroes III.

I don't mind when it is released, just as long as it works well and is bug-free...I'm worried about that, though...

Judging since when these files were available on elrath.com why did no one here on HRT or CH inform us?
To discourage people from trying it? Or not to lose the benevolent attitute from Ubi/Nival towards this site(s)?
Beeecause for people who waited sooooo bl***y long for the editor, this possible tryout might be useful and valuable!

I have found the Beta Map Editor on one the Heroes sites; however, it is a incomplete version of the map editor that's promised to us. Just wait a little longer for the 1.3 patch for the final version of the editor.

Things that are missing from the Beta Map Editor:

1. Missing some icons which depict some of the map objects

2. It's very unstable, crashes my machine alot

3. Desparately needs an auto installer, if the files are not within their proper directorys the map editor will refuse to work properly.

Right now, I don't have a lot of time working with the map editor since I'm trying to complete a Dungeon and Dragons Module to get it published. However, if I get time to play with it a litte longer, I'll list the other things wrong with the beta map editor.
