Depends how you define significant. On this graph the last points make the 26-30 difference looking small. Actually lv 26 in H5 requires 101%, lvl 31 206% (double amount) and lvl 36 2227% of H3 values.

(I hope the same values are used in the final game)
lvl.....H5......H3
25..200933 200933
26.. 244029..240714
27.. 304363..288451
28.. ?...........345735
29..539665..414475
30..785826..496963
31..1228915..595948
32..2070784..714730
33..3754522..857268
34..7290371..1028314
35..1,506924e+007..1233570
36..3,296063e+007..1479876

for comparison 2000 skeletons (not archers) give 10k XP points

If it is multiplayer map "too big for you" with underground and like another 2-3 good players so *maybe* you could reach it but still really hard :(.I kinda hope they will change this xp thing on expansion and more skill slots would be nice coz with that many skills avaible 5 is too less for me :$.

That is part of the point. You cannot get all the best skills to one hero. H3 had the problem that all high level heroes tended to have the same skills and there was not enough diversity.

H5 uses such retarded formulas.. Way too high exp requirements, really bad caster creature damage formula etc.

Trying to get to level 30 is pointless in the campaign. The cap for mission 4 is 24 or 26, and you won't get your ultimate until near the end of mission 5. By that time, you probably already have the mission in the bag.

Is it possible to mod the experience formula?

It seems that what once was a convinience(saving the tree of knowledge later so you can get higher levels easier)has become a nececity now.

Personally I don't mind the size of the maps...after lvl25 your hero has all the skills he needs so why get to lvl35? Ultimate skills? hahaha!

Seriously, I'd rather have maps with less neutrals and mines and more combat between players :)

yeah, the tree of knowledge will come in very handy - but we'll need the map editor for that, since they are few and far between in the maps i've done so far ....

modding the level requirements might be a way to go - finding where that baby is stored will be interesting thou ....

mind you, having just thought of that .... why waste time modding since there is already a way to add exp to a hero thru the console ....

not very elegant thou, and maybe should be standard for all heroes, not just mine :-D ;)

forget what i just said :D

It was pretty much a necessity in H4 as well if you wanted to reach the level caps. At least now you'll be gaining more power when you level up.

Level cap in HIV was at distant 70,and now it is hard to go over 30.

I meant level caps in campaigns. I've no idea how XP requirements compare, but H4 is also more demanding than H3.

And while I think it wouldn't have been too much trouble on Nival's part to program the possibility to go beyond level 40, it's hardly my main gripe.

Well on last maps of campaigns you have no cap.In some campaigns in HIV you can go over 40th level.
