First time I summoned Pheonix, I was perplexed. "Only one?! Nival what have you done?! Oh my god, I'm going to die!"
they don't kick ass when you are playing with Upg 6 tier necro unit
OR a Necromancer with Cold Death. :D

So if a netral had a "100% chance to kill a stack" ability it wouldn't be too strong?
No, it wouldn't. Of course, if the rewards for defeating it are too smal, or the chance of defeating it is too small, then it would not be enjoyable.

Case in point: the Dracolich in WoG. This is an incredibly powerful creature. If not used carefully by a map designer it can could ruin a map. However the problem is with proper use and placement, not the creature itself. Now, if it were to be made a normally recruitable creature in a town, then it would be too strong.

The phoenix in H5 looks more like a dragon, to me.

both of those pics are from H5. the one in the link is in Ubi/Nival's H5, and the one shown is 3DO/NWC's H5. i think Ubi were trying to be original, but they deffinetly intended for it to look more like a dragon than a bird, or atleast a sort of cross between them.
