Favorite Town View

Unread postby Orfinn » 03 Jun 2006, 10:42

So which town looks best for you on the town screen? Academy in the skies, the Infernos burning, red hot pit, the Sylvans giant tree, the Necropolis 3 moons panorama view, the holy fields and city of Haven or the Dungeons enormous, dark cavern?

My vote goes for Sylvan. The town has a rich atmosphere, I like the sunrise in the horizon, the huge lake and the huge tree in the center as the buildings main foundation and most of the buildings have a nice mystic touch, abit asian inspired IMO :butterfly: Its beautiful no matter if the town is fully upgraded or not, also the sylvans town view reminds me a bit of Fortress, got a deja vu since I saw it the first time, its not a swamp but plenty water and surrounding hills and mountains in the distance as Fortress had :)

Why is the Sylvan tree in a lake? Just wondering.

Excuse me? :| It is in a lake isnt it? Im sorry if my english is abit out of track or im confusing words. But well thats what I have seen when playing and looking around town, that the giant three are in a middle of a huge lake, the only connection to the mainland is by tiny catwalks throught the defensive walls.

I r confoosed 8|

The question isn't why you typed its in a lake, it was why IS it in a lake? :-D

Not that it matters in this poll, do carry on.

Well actually it does matter a bit, as me saying to myself "Why is it in a lake, that's a bit weird" makes me feel a lot less inclined to vote Sylvan as I'm distracted by the unexpected lakeyness ;)

Skinny dipping pixies™ of course... pervy pixie fanciers all of them rabbit-eared hippies....

Frankly none of the city views impress me much, but if I had to chose I guess Dungeon for the creature statues that adorn the buildings.

Well such a huge tree needs lots of water, and if it was on the ground the elves would have to water it nonstop to prevent it from whithering away :D

Yes, but in a lake it gets aqueous(is that a word?). :D

Yeah, but this tree is in the lake.. The Sylvan tree is on a small piece of ground in the middle of the lake...

voted Haven, really captures the mood of medieval england. you can really feel the size of that giant fort, and the tiny peasant huts and farms cowering before it...

I haven't yet experienced all of the towns, but the ones I have are simply stunning. One thing I really dislike is that creature dwellings are very blandly drawn and don't stand out at all, as in previous games, so the easiest way of making a purchase is through the buy menu.

Voted haven.

Their town screen couples very well with their town music. It is very well polished and impressive, IMO.

I love the Haven's huge castle and the music as well. When i look at it I always wonder how it would feel to stand on top of that castle.

First you will have to find an entrance to the castle :P And that is not easy because it's not in the place it should be...

I love the Haven, Academy, and Dungeon views, but my fav is Sylvan...lovely warm, mystical atmosphere.

I personally think Necropolis is the worst, though. Love the moon and the marshy area around it, but of all the views, this one's the hardest to see--everything's dark and lost in its green / black foggy haze of death or whatever.

The moon? There are three of them, small, medium and HUGE! At least now we know Ashan have 3 .
Standing on top of the Haven are nothing to the heights of Academy, one wrong step.... :devious: Better not be afraid of heights if you dare :D

I love both the Academy and the Necropolis. The beautiful sky view in the Necropolis gets me, but the Academy's actual castle...thing is better looking, so I voted for it. But really I like them all except for the Dungeon--too many naked women.
