Sacrificial pit (Dungeon building). Am I missing something?

Unread postby Tyber Zann » 14 Sep 2013, 01:16

I like to think I'm smart, but this one has me feeling like I gotta go back to the count from sesame street. 1 blood maiden. Ha ha ha. 2 blood maidens. Ha ha ha.

U know the drill. Basically, this building, unique to the dungeon, allows you to sacrifice creatures, much like a sacrificial alter. But, rather than giving you XP, it gives a random chance of increasing the growth rate of either minotaurs, or blood maidens.

I use the term random loosely. It seems like the odds are about 1000:1

Just for the hell of it, I saved, then split my army into tiny groups and tossed the whole thing in the grinder, one little stack after another. Probly wasted a few hundred units, and in return...

+2 maiden growth. Ugghhh. It's like a half ass version of the training grounds, and based on the same kind of chance that casinos offer. The house ALWAYS wins.

Is there some trick to this? Does the number of creatures sacrificed make a difference? Are the odds based on number of units, or number of times u throw something in the pit. does splitting my stacks into x1 improve my odds? Iv tried throwing full stacks and its like playing scratch and win.

I suppose if u pick up some groupies on the road, u may as well toss em it for a shot, but even that barely works. I guess they're trying to avoid imbalances by giving the dungeon too many units, but its almost like a tease. Come on, just try it.

I'm lost man. Anyone know.more about this building?

I know someone will provide a better answer than I can, and I have not played on months. But, it seems to me that it's based on HP's or unit level. I obviously get more growth with stronger units. Diplomacy is naturally great for this; sick, but great. :devious:

I do not know if the patches and expansions changed anything in its working, but in early realeases, it was random amount (in average 300) of hit points for first boost. Additional boosts had growing demand. IMO there is hardly a game when changing 300 HP for one maiden per week is justified.

Ok, well that actually gives me a basic idea. HP does make sense. And I would imagine its suited for foreign troops (much like the necro or inferno creature killer is suited to foreign troops) good call. I figure its set up to avoid unfair growth rates, and it makes sense. I just wish theyd have made the odds a little more clear. Even a scratch n win sais 1:50 or whatever
