Unread postby jybgesss » 02 May 2010, 14:47

Ive been playing heroes 1 through 4 for many years. Now I want to play heroes V. I might be wrong but as far as I know there are 2 expansions. My question is , do I need to buy the original game then each expansion or is there a buy one and get all 3 games box out there? Thx guys

My recommendation is buy only the second expansion, Tribes of the East, as it is the most improved version of the game. The only thing you would be missing out on are the rather shabby campaigns from the core game and the first expansion. However, you can play those campaigns and any other maps from the first two games under Tribes of the East merely by installing this mod: http://www.heroes-fr.com/en/original_campaigns.php (legal).

So, in a nutshell, my recommendation is just get the last game.

If you want the campaigns then you have to get all 3 i don't thing they ever made a combo pack, but there might be a mod to play all the campaigns in Tribes of the east though I remember reading it somewhere probably here. If you just want all the factions just get Tribes of the East as far as I know it has everything but the campaigns and its stand alone so it'll work with out the other 2.

As for your second question, there is a collection (3 in 1 box) called Heroes V Epic Collection: http://www.amazon.com/Heroes-Might-Magi ... B0028GY640

It's currently USD $19.99.

The second expansion Tribes of the East basically made Hammers of Fate obsolete as it includes all the new units and more. Tribes of the East has a unique single player campaign. But the storyline and design isn't anything special. It's good for a laugh though.

You can buy Heroes V and ToTE separately for $9.99 each. So you might as well get the 3 in 1 box for the same price.

Or he could just buy TotE and search the forum for the mod that lets you play the older campaigns too.
