Is the Mage Campaign supposed to be infinate?

Unread postby Slayer of Cliffracers » 15 Jul 2009, 22:07

I've won the Heroes V vanilla campaign now. The final battle was great fun, especially when Zehir realized he could banish his portion of the entire demon army pretty much in a turn.

However when I rescued Isabel, it seems the situation just goes back to where I started and I can begin the Demon Sovereign battle all over again. All my objectives are still blank too :( :(.

Is it possible to actually end the Mages campaign and get on the High Score card? Or is it that since the whole Campaign is over, nobody ever bothered adding the win the campaign campaign option, since it's all over.

But I don't know what causes the bug, so I don't want to do the whole campaign scenario all over again just to find out.

The Heroes V story is brilliant. Far better than the Heroes V game. :) :) :)

The innovation in the plot line is incredible. I love the way that the undead peacefully take over the Griffin Empire by manipulation, so the Griffin Empire and the Undead end up trying to conquer the world together.

Are you knocking porn?

I actually think it's not badly done; the stories of H4 are built better, but the story line is one of few things about H5 that didn't bother me. I dare you to come up with something better, 'cause I don't think you can. :hoo:

The basic thing is that Heroes V basically threw away all the developments that made Heroes IV better than Heroes III.

The most annoying thing about the game is sieges if you ask me.

Are you joking me? :what: A handicapped amoeba could spin a more consistent tale...

The tale is highly consistent. Just not with the official background, or with later editions I get the impression.

Like the whole orc half-demon thing. That is truly aweful. I mean the whole plotline of Heroes V essentially is to keep a half-demonic being being born.

Yeah, you see that's just about why it isn't consistent.

Anyway, I have done the whole mission all over again and won the game, I now know what the bug was.

There is a bug that sometimes stops the objectives journal from being updated after you defeat Biara, so that although you can start the end battle, your objectives are never completed and so the game continues without fulfillment.

Well the point had to made someway that Queen Isabel is possessed, just in case one forgets the she doesn't have a sense of humor.

Oh come on, I thought you played Heroes IV's campaigns, how can you be defending this? Rant impending:

She wasn't even possessed, it was just the Succubus in disguise. How in hell's earth did several thousand troops returning from Sheogh manage to mistake one Queen for the other?? How did Raelag end up with the real one without notifying the others, allowing the entire empire to support a moron, dress up in red and brutally murder hundreds of its own citizens? Why was she walking around with half her soul missing until Arantir arrived - where did that debacle come from? And how exactly can Obi Wan Kenobi, sorry, Tieru still be walking around - why wouldn't the Succubus take over/destroy his soul instead and make things harder for Raelag?

The story's main plot device is that the heroes are absolute idiots - judging from the response it got, I'm led to believe they were its target audience as well.

Thank you Corlagon, for pinpointing the reason I found playing the campaigns to be a chore rather than fun. The Academy campaign in H4 was probably the best story of the lot. Magnus, Solymr, Emilia Nighthaven... all intelligent, believable characters the like of which seem entirely nonexistant in Ashan. I've yet to even finish the HoF or Tribes campaigns because I just can't summon the interest.
